During a fierce storm on his voyage across the ocean, William Rahr could be heard yelling from the tall masted ship: "Roll on old sea! And when you are done, when the storm clouds have destroyed themselves, we will still be standing and drinking!" Today, we have created the ultimate ale for a voyage such as this: A German-Style IPA - a traditional India Pale Ale with German Influence. Our German-Style IPA is brewed with a blend of all German malts, hops, and yeast. It has a rich maltiness with both floral and spicy hop characteristics. So get ready and hang on - Stormcloud will see you through your roughest seas and straight on to smooth sailing. Editor’s Note: This beer was reconfigured in 2009 with new hops and yeast.

Large bubble carbonation. Nose of wet hop but not strong. Teases with mild fruit up front, followed by prolonged bitter. I’m a hop head, but this is just bitter. As it warms, a little more malt to balance.

Balanced IPA Strong flavor Not the best of craft beers to get an IPA in but it is defiantly worth it if they have it on tap to try. If you can get it at happy out it's worth the price point ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at DFW Airport. Clear deep golden, mid sized head. Fruity nose with a floral touch. Mid sweet with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Hay and citrus, strange peppery finish.

12 oz bottle. (Collins Midtown Liquor) Tulsa, OK. Slightly cloudy golden color with a small bubbly white head. Sugary sweetness, play dough, almond and plastic in the aroma. Harsh hops, plastic, bitterness and pavement in the flavor. How old is this? Nobody knows... No freshness info. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Glowing amber. Big frothy head. Aroma of must, earth and veggies. Simple in flavor. More malty than hoppy. Caramel and earth

Bottle at Amex lounge DFW. Pours hazy amber with medium head. A weak nose of raisin and grape. Sudden, crisply bitter with malt and pine. Slightly watery palate and a long bitter finish. A bit of an odd bird with the maltiness but worth a try.

Tap at the source. Pours hazy murky cuprous. Off white head. Aroma is caramel malt, figs, citrus, orange, pine. Flavor is English malt, citrus. True to the English ipa style.

Tap at pizza vino in Dallas airport. Pour amber and head lasts for days. Smooth for style and sweetness covers hop bite and floral notes. A bit too sweet really. Ok but nothing to seek out. Wouldn't turn it down though.

Sampled at GABF 2015, In the tasting glass orange with some brown highlights. Nose of fruit and floral hops. Medium maybe body. Flavor is caramel malts, some citrus and floral hops, and some fruit Moderately bitter finish. Seems clearly a English IPA rather than a west coast one we see so much these days. Very nice drinking.

On draft. I like the color and head. Hop flavor is just ok. Lots and lots of malt up front. It’s not as bitter as a west coast ipa but it still has decent hop bitterness. It’s an ok IPA that I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy. If that’s all the IPA the bar has then it is good enough to drink more than one.

Bottle. Hazy Amber orange pour with a white soapy head. Sweet earthy malts with a hint of spice. Too malty for my tastes.
