Reddish brown color with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet malt and prune. Full body with lots of sweetness from the malt. Just enough hops to offset the large amount of malt that went into this one. Filling finish. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - OCT 2, 2016
Bottle:   Darker Barleywine.   A bit bready, whole wheat, with some caramel or toffee notes.   Fairly full bodied.   Touch of alcohol on the back.   Finishes whole wheat bready, caramel, and toffee.   Low hop, mostly malts.   Seems more English, albeit its not as caramel/toffee like.   Low hop at least.   Thanks Bill! stevoj (5069) - Boise, Idaho, USA - FEB 9, 2016
On tap at the Ginger Man. Dull pour, aroma hints at wood notes, brown sugar. Taste follows with more sweet malt, the proceeds with some gentle alcohol burn. Not great, but pretty tasty. suprchunk (2994) - Crestview, Florida, USA - DEC 31, 2015
Deep, tawny colored color. Small off white head. Plenty of lacing. Huge hoppy aroma, pine tar. Some notes of orange marmalade. Taste is a sweet orange and caramel with notes of chocolate. RobertDale (6483) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - APR 22, 2015

Good aroma and flavor that is malty sweet with a hint of hops and alcohol but not overly so. Dark caramel appearance and medium weight. A fine beer and a good sipper. williamstome (1876) - Somerville, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 28, 2015
Deep opaque chestnut pour, small tan head. Aroma of dark fruit and molasses, flavor is intensely of molasses and prunes. ZacM612 (719) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - JAN 17, 2015
Dark brown with light beige head. Aroma is of dark fruit, but a little pungent. Taste is sweet with a little bit of an astringent finish. Was hoping for better.

Tap at the brewery anniversary party. I tried the 2014 and 2013 versions. The newer version was much more bright and effervescent while the aged one was more mellow and balanced. Lots of fruity notes and mint on the nose with the fresh version. Flavor is also fruity and sweet with a tingly feeling over the palate. dfinney23 (3323) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 14, 2014
Dark and sticky. Smells and tastes kind of like a Tortuga rum cake. I think. I mean, it’s been a while since I’ve actually had a Tortuga rum cake but that’s what this brings to mind.
