UPDATED: NOV 28, 2011 re-rate (original was 2009) either I changed or this beer changed; MUCH better than my original rate (below). malty aroma with a hint of cocoa. Pour is black with big beige head with long lacing. many levels of flavor - not much sweetness; beer starts smooth, some dark fruit flavors followed by chalky chocolate and beer ends dry. med-thick palate. I LIKE!! Dissapointed; my first winter warmer and it was... bland nice aroma of cloves? malts but there was none of that in the taste..

i am giving this a chance, what can the newly distributed rahr do for me? ... pours a dark cola dark maroon colour .. has a medium head... weird and weak aromas .. at first slight garbage and grapes, then more typical winter warmer smells... weak mouth and flavour, nothing offensive but is like drinking a dark malt michelob... i dont feel happy or safe drinking this used mop water in a bottle... rahr, do you make any good beers? seriously.. i have never had a good bottle of rahr, ever...

Draught. Another nice warmer that does not attack you with ABV. Dark brown pour that stays pretty still. Aroma is mostly sweet malt and toffee. Flavour is more malt and a little spice. Easy drinking.

High carbonation. Fake nutty aroma. Rather poor, dry, lightly spicy flavor.

A rich malt heavy ale. Fruity and sweet, somewhat caramelly. A tough rough, though, with a notable alcohol/grainy finish. Full palate.

Pours a dark brown with a nice tan head that had staying power. Very typical aroma for the style, but not exactly rich. i like the flavor, with a warm malty backbone. Roasted nut notes, with a spice cake thrown in. Needed more body, but other than that nicely done.
