Long Neck--> pint glass. Dark brown, large head. Aroma of rum raisin and molasses with notes of vanilla and pecan, very complex and hard to pin down. Hoppy taste, aftertaste brings back most of the aroma plus subtle spices and notes of espresso at the finish. Alcohol well concealed. Too much hops for the interesting mix of flavors but I don't notice it so much after a couple sips. It's a very decent ale and very tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep mahogany pour with a nice tan head and good placing. Aroma is toast, nutty, and burnt caramel. Taste is nutty, toast, caramel, and some char. Has some subtle bitterness to balance the light sweetness. Medium body. Good beer. Definitely my favorite Rahr 6-pack.

Pours a dark brown almost black color with tan head. Roasted caramel malt, a little spice, and charr on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes warm and roasty.

Much better than I remember. Nice malty and caramel aroma. A bread crust brown color with a good foamy head. Weighty palate with decent carbonation. Full feeling. Bready malt flavors with burnt sugar and spices. Overall a good beer only to be bettered by the bourbon barrel version.

Dark brown with a thin lasting tan head. Sweet malt aroma. Medium body with lots of malt with a little hop bitterness. I prefer drinking this beer just below room temperature i.e. 60-65 degrees. Filling finish.

Great beer. The only thing I wish for this beer is that it had more aromatic malt. It is perfect for a cold night. Great beer overall.

Great winter ale, with coffee and chocolate notes, followed up with slightly burnt bitterness in the finish.

12 oz bottle compliments of TJ. Poured the color of cola with sweet malty nose. Sticky sweet malt backbone, caramel and raisins. Slight bitterness at the finish, practically disappeared as it warmed up. Delicious ww!

The aroma is malt forward with notes of toasted malts, caramel, and nuts. A dark clear garnet-brown hue with a very thin tan head, which quickly forms a ring, and minimal lacing. The taste is surprisingly rich; not robust, but very rewarding. Roasted malts, toffee, caramel, with hints of nuts. There is a slight hoppy/peppery finish. Medium-full body with moderate carbonation. Overall, I liked this beer and would drink it again - winter or not.
