Bottled. Poured clear garnety-brown with a dense cap of beige head.. sticky lacing followed it down. The aroma picked up toasty caramel and brown sugar notes with nutty accents and an odd sour component. The flavor found redder fruits (and some associated sourness) to join caramel and nutty sweetness at the core.. bitterness was light and earthy.. light, but present sticky warmth surrounded.. grainy, residual fruit and brown sugar sweetness on the finish. Medium-bodied with a slow, scratchy feel on the palate.. just flowed decently. OK brew.

Bottles, tap, brewery. I have a ton of this each winter. Dark, dark red pour. Cinnamon and malt aroma. Tastes of caramel, malts, a little sweetness, and a hint of alcohol. Thick feel with a lasting aftertaste.

This beer look like a beer should when you pour it in a beer glass. Its 80% opaque brown malt colored with a 1 inch beige head that settles to a 1/8" faster than id prefer. The aroma is clean and has notes of spring water and clove. The flavor is heavy with heavily toasted, roasted, almost burnt malt, and clove. Appeal is smooth and easy. Lacing is light on the glass. Finish is spicy and malty. Tastes good when its 68 in your house and 105 outside.

Sampled from 12-oz bottle and shared by moelikebeer. Pours a clear dark copper brown colored brew with an average sized beige head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted dark malt, cloves, a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon, and white pepper. Taste is medium to full bodied, with flavors of roasted caramel malt, a hint of molasses, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. Finish is more towards the malty side with a clove and herbal aftertaste. A typical Christmas sliced strong ale.

Pours dark brown with a lasting creamy beige head. Smell is slightly herbal and malty. Taste is a bit bland, but with smooth herbal and light caramel malt. Almost no bitterness. Creamy body with soft to medium carbonation. Pretty drinkable, but not too amazing.
