By far one of the best domestic brown ales. Nice roasted pecan/almond/peanut kind of thing going on here, though subtle. Lovely clear caramel color with traces of caramel sweetness, but again, surprisingly subtle. Let it grow on you. Worth repeating.
Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Brown in colour with a thick off-white creamy-frothy head. Crisp, malty with a gritty enough texture with some hops and some breadiness. There’s a robustness about it too. GTAEgeek (2218) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - NOV 14, 2016
From the bottle. The aroma is cherry, chicory, peat, caramel, and milk chocolate. Sweet and malty, with a light, balancing bitterness. Medium body, grainy, and chewy. This is a fun and interesting beer. Travlr (24759) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 12, 2016
Draft. Clear dark brown color tan head. Roasty cocoa aroma. Taste is sweet brownies. Nice. travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 3, 2016
Bottle. The look is pretty dark, brown tinging almost to black in color, with a tan head. The smell is sourdough bread, malt, roast, pastries, sweet, and some fruit. Slightly off in the smell . Taste is more what I would expect. Roast, touch of fruit, cocoa, malt, decent stuff. bnokk (535) - Lee, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 16, 2016
APPEARANCE- deep brown with very foamy (almost frothy) head.
NOSE- very little in the smeller Dept.
FLAVOR- malty sweetness jumps right out at you when you open it. The nuttiness is indeed an undertone, but that doesn’t really take away from the beer. Very nice use of bittering hops as I only get a hint of them at the very end, but I get the feeling they’re affecting the drink from.the sip through the finish

Pours brown with a small light brown head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel and roast. Taste is sweet with very light bitters. Light bodied, smooth and almost but not quite creamy. Very solid brown ale. ordybill (1758) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - APR 21, 2015
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass
Aroma- Has a nice roasted nut aroma
Appearance- Pours a dark brown with a small white head
Taste- Has a nice malty flavor with a good blend of roasted nuts.
Palate- A mild to medium bodied beer with heavy carbonation.
Overall- A pretty good brown ale that should not be passed up. HourGlass13 (909) - North Carolina, USA - APR 4, 2015
Pours dark brown with an off white head. Aroma is is all malts and roast. The taste is mild with some caramel, and a earthy note. It has a mild sweetness, but not overly sweet. There is a hint of booze in the taste. All around easy to drink and very good brown. stangger (619) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 28, 2015
Light roasted malts, mild nuttiness. Caramel, syrupy sweet - overly so for the style. A bit undercarbonated; tastes like it’s slightly underfermented - low on alcohol, high on sugar.
