COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Iron Spike Blonde introduces itself with an antique gold colour accentuated with a generous white foam. Nose of honey, spicy, lemon zest and citric hops, some biscuit malt, a nice peach/tropical fruit profile as well. On the pallet the beer enters with a hint of sweet fruit upfront (peach, pear mostly), followed by lemon, some mild hops, and sweet grains. It has a floral aftertaste, similar to that of rose petals. Lots of pretty spider web lace left behind from the head, and good retention. Medium body with a sweet fruit finish, nicely balanced by moderate thoughtful hopping."

4.3 % alcohol by volume, IBU’s 15.9

Freebie from guy at railway booth at Tall Boys beer carnival pours apple juice yellow with a frothy cap. Taste is better than expected (& better than what the ratings here would tell you). It’s a crisp brew: mild, brisk & a tad floral. Goes really well with the salty potato chips I have on the go.

Poured into a glass from 473ml can. Pours a nice gold with a tan head. Aroma is smokey, hard to get anything else. Could be the brewer isn’t cleaning the electric elements in the boiler well enough, but I like it. A bit odd for a blonde. Flavour is malty and smokey with a hint of citrus. Finish is smooth and slightly sweet.

Pours a clear yellow brew with a small head and ok lacing. Aromas of passionfruit and florals with a light malt background. Sweet up front malts balanced with a decently bitter finish. Well rounded blond ale for the style.

neuromatt (1225) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2013
500 mL can from the brewery, served in a branded glass. Pours clear straw-yellow with a small white creamy head that fades to a thin cover. On the nose are light grains, soft hops, flowers and hints of yeast and flowers. The flavour is moderately bitter and slightly sweet with delicate herby hops and grains. The finish is medium in length, medium bitter with flowers and earth. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a passable blonde, but nothing to write home about. It is quite grainy but has some nice hops. 2012-09-02

golden yellow / amber with light carbonation and short bubbly head. aromas of citrusy hops and musty fruit. flavor is initially sweet yet evenly balanced by hop bitterness near the end and some metallic cornyness. mouthfeel is slightly bitter and dry.

Canette 473ml.

Bought this as a road pop beer and it didn’t actually turn out at all bad. Golden colour, a little head. Some malt, some hops, and a tiny bit of character. Great for style.

3.3
bunget (960) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 9, 2012
500ml bottle bottled 6 days before sampling. Pours a beautiful deep yellow body. Medium collar leaves some lacing, but not too much. Interesting aroma: vanilla, wild berries, buttermilk, everything very sweet. Taste - a little sweet, not to complex and yet light, delicate hops and some strong malt presence.

2.6
Boutip (6321) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 8, 2012
Can: Poured a bright golden color ale with a medium size white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of unrefined cereal notes with lightly sweet notes. Taste is also a mix between some grainy cereal with light unrefined notes with a lightly sweet finish. Body is above average for style with good carbonation. Fairly middle of the road offering though the beer description is a bit over the top compared to the results.

Lubiere (13772) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 5, 2012
A hazed golden ale, over-carbonated and gushing, with a super thick frothy lacing white head. In aroma, sweet grassy malt with light berry notes and soap. In mouth, sweet honey malt with light acidity, unpleasant and showing signs of infection.
