3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer sat sparkling in the glass with a copper-gold coloured body and a coarse white head that settled into the barest skim on top of the body of the beer. Aromas were of blood orange, tangelo and sage, juicy peaches and apricots. Possibly a touch of guava and pomegranate there too. There was a rush of prickly carbonation at first instance and then the tropical and dessert fruits came to the fore. The bitterness arrives as a gentle twisting sensation at the sides of the tongue and mouth, bringing the fruitiness and faint herbs into the finish, a finish with citrus zest prevalent. This was a delicious, sessionable pale ale although a little light in body. It also looked a little odd sitting in a glass without any head on it, but the colour was gorgeous.
In fairness though, it does what it says on the tin: quenching and clean.
something seemed a little off with this, a bit lighter than it should be. light fruits and light bitterness but it didn’t seem to be the best batch. not bad but a little off.
