COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear very dark brown with a medium but fading to small tan head and an aroma of espresso, roasted malts licorice, cocoa, oak, vanilla and toffee. The taste is sweet with some peaty sourness and woody complexities. a nice beer.

almost black colour, moderate sized creamy beige head; aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, burnt woody and slight fruity notes; taste of coffee, dark chocolate, unripe fruits and long lasting burnt bitterness; good porter, though the roasted bitterness is a bit unbalanced for me.

Bottle pours black with nice brown head. Aroma of chocolate, whisky/oak, a little licorice and a to me unknown resinous aroma that might be of the Topaz hop?; little sweetness also. Taste develops differently depending on the temperature the beer is served: at first (colder) the bitterness of coffee and some grapefruit predominate. But when warming up a little there’s more room for also sweeter tones, like chocolate. In both cases the coffee bitterness lasts long in the aftertaste. So a complex beer, special one.

Bottle from het Biermoment, batch 20150501 BB 05-17, large sample. Dark brown color, short frothy brown head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, bit boozy, oak wood, vinous, bit raisin. Licorice in taste, peat, roast, slight tart even. Dry. Barrel seems to add to aroma, but overpowers the flavor a bit. Interesting.

Mooie zwarte kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt zoetig, vanille, houtig, beetje gerookt. Smaakt zoetig, koffie, bitterzoet, houtig.

@ De Beugel. Dark brown, w/ dark brown lacing foam head. Nice aroma, mix of port/coffee/barley. Great taste, but was so overwehlemd fort to take notes, and don’t remember. (Arnhem 201603)

33cl flesje via Het Bierhuis, Breda Alcoholpercentage van 6,6% Uitgeschonken in St. Bernardus glas Uiterlijk: zwart met kleine schuimkraag die snel wegtrekt Aroma en smaak: chocolade, gebrande koffie, eiken, droog, flink bitter, whiskey niet dominant Conclusie: porter smaak houdt goed stand tegen de whiskey eiken smaak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bierkoning (13598) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - MAR 27, 2016
Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, hints of laurel an whisky in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with laurel, licorice, roast and a hint of whisky. Grapes, the whisky could be more ontspoken.

3.3
Bosskie (923) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 21, 2016
Pitch black clear beer with a weak head. Smell is liquorice and wood, subtle chocolate, salty. Subtle sweetness. Taste is bitter and watery, well balanced, with a late astringent finish. Quite refreshing. Hint of iodine, ash.
