COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A stout from Ramses bier brewed at the 3 Horne brewery. Brewed with biological coffee, vanilla, hopflowers, bog myrtle, juniper berry.

Bottle from Mam and Dad’s Holiday, Netherlands. Inky black with a thin white head. It has a rich coffee, chocolate and vanilla flavour followed by oak, leather and bitter chocolate on the smooth finish. Very good.

Bottle. Black with a shade of brown. Minimal head. Light aroma of dark fruits first reminds me of a Doppelbock but then the smells of malts and chocolate kick in. Some smoke in there too. Taste is coffee, malts, dark chocolate and liquorice. Long lasting bitter hoppy finish with even more coffee and chocolate. Can’t detect the vanilla though...Balanced and well made even if the alcohol shines through. Lovely.

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, hops and juniper berries.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with medium yeast and with a slight/medium brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts slightly/medium sweet with malts, caramel and chocolate; ends slightly bitter with roasted malt, hops and juniper berries.

Overall:
This beer is rather complex and balanced, but lacks intensity in both the aroma and flavour. The added ingredients -vanilla, coffee and juniper berries- work quite well, but the beer is so balanced that the vanilla and coffee are not even that noticeable.

33cl bottle at De Vlaamsche Reus, at Wageningen in the Netherlands (26 V 2016). 8.5 ABV, 66 EBU, 122 EBC, in a perfect imperial combo. A black tanned brew with red brown gloom and big white to beige head. The nose is rather fruity with grapes, berries, winegums and other candies. The taste has keen coffee flavours and of course the traditional sugary sweets, yet also a hoppy bitterness and mild fondant chocolate body. This results in a not that heavy, yet very long lasting chocolate-like bitter brew. Great job!

Gangstergafje (1097) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - MAY 2, 2016
The beer has the perfect stout looks. The color of the beer is pitch black on the eye. With a strong light behind it, a truly astonishing ruby/cherry red color can be seen. The beer looks quite clear, but it is so dark that it is hard to determine. The beer pours a minimal layer of dark foam with a color of roasted almonds. The smell is typical for a stout. It has some delicious aromas of roasted barley, coffee and some sweet chocolate. The smell is a little mild rough. It could have had a bit more bitter tones of roasted barley and smoked oak. Those aromas are present, but just not strong enough. The smell also had a soft sweet aroma, of some red forest fruits. This is quite a nice touch. The taste of the beer is delicious to. This is a little stronger than the smell, it has a bit more kick. The beer has a delicious roasty smoky bitterness to it. There is also a nice alcohol flavor to it. The flavor has a delicious strong bitterness to it. This gives the beer a real stout flavor. It also has some sweet chocolate and some coffee. The balance is nice. It is a good stout, but not the best one around.

Lore (2664) - Budapest, HUNGARY - APR 24, 2016
dark brown colour, moderate sized brown head; aroma and taste of coffee, some herbs, hints of vanilla, ash and intensive roastedness; not bad, but a bit one-dimensional (mainly dominated by roasted bitterness with only minimal other notes)

MarcoDL (4808) - NETHERLANDS - APR 19, 2016
Bottle. Dark pour, foamy head. Aroma has malt and some herbs. Taste of licorice, earthy dusty hop, herbs, grassy bitter and some malt. Weird, not very good.
