On tap at Cardinal Pub Bar, Stavanger. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of malts, grain and dust, hints of chocolate and liquorice. Roasty flavour, slightly sweet, notes of chocolate, liquorice and coffee. Bitter aftertaste. erling1000 (725) - - MAR 12, 2017
A danish, all black, double mashed single batch Imperial Brown Ale with very low, brown head. Aroma is complex malty, coffee, chocolate, prune, roasted malt. Taste is bitter sweet. Soft. Echon (535) - Århus, DENMARK - MAR 8, 2017
Black. Roasted barley in the aroma. Moderately sweet taste that gives way to powerful and pungent flavours of ash, tar and some fruit. Finishes dry, boozy and very malty bitter. Full body, and an oily texture. Overall, a poor imperial stout. Way too pungent and bitter. Tastes like it was brewed on black malt and burned tires. Quite extreme, but far from drinkable. Copenhagen 18/2 2017. 50 cl bottle from Østerbro Vin & Spiritus. Very serious looking label with typewriter letters and declarations about being "single batch" and "limited edition". To judge from Ratebeer this seems to be to stretching reality a bit as this seems to be a reissue of a 2011-version. Pours opaque dark dark brown with small beige head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick creamy layer of foam. Moderate lacing. Aroma is quite bitter. Espresso Coffee, salty licorice, leather, sour milk and a light touch of bitter chocolate. Only subdued sweetness. Soft carbonation and thick oily and sticky palate. Flavor has more distinct sweetness followed by heavy coffee bitterness. The fairly high and powerful ABV lurking in the background. Aftertaste is salty and bitter with a heavy undercurrent of sticky sweetness. A heavy hitting, heavy tasting fellow leaving you sticky and satisfied. olio (10289) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 24, 2016
50 cl bottle. BBE 03/2021.
Pours black color with a small beige head. Aroma is strong with licorice and roasted malts, some rye notes, cocoa, distant dark berry notes, faint rubbery tones. Flavor is burnt malty with tar and salmiac notes, salty licorice, cocoa powder and dry wooden notes on the finish. Not very balanced but okay salty licorice IS.
