COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Love Struck Hefe is brewed in the traditional German style with a healthy dose of Texas attitude. A traditional weizen ale yeast gives this 5.4% ABV brew a nice banana nose, balanced with clove. Consistent with German tradition, it was mashed to bring out a deep, golden color along with a touch of malty sweetness. We also altered the water here in San Antonio to match the water profile of Munich, which accentuates the German Hefe flavors. Love Struck’s name is inspired by the Stevie Ray Vaughan song, which gives the beer an electric, summer time energy. Like a traditional hefeweizen, the yeast will be roused before serving resulting in a cloudy appearance. This recipe won gold in several homebrew competitions, which got us just cocky enough to start our brewery.

12 oz. bottle dated 11.15.16. Pours a tremendous rapidly collapsing white head, over a slightly hazy yellow (SRM 3) body.......nose is banana/bubblegum, hints of clove, wheat......taste is slightly sweet, with banana/bubblegum tones, mild clove, light apple, grainy wheat, finishing with mild bitterness......mouth feel, light body, no alcohol, high carbonation. The banana/bubblegum, and clove are all a bit light for the style, and the light finishing bitterness is a bit high. Slight changes in the recipe would lead to improvement. BJCP 7/2/12/4/6

Bottle at the Esquire Tavern on the Riverwalk. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of banana, wheat, and coriander. Tastes wheaty, yeasty, and a touch bitter. Light-medium bodied and crisp.

Slightly hazy golden brew with a huge clove aroma. Taste is mostly clove with a good solid wheat background. Maybe it is because I haven’t had a Hefeweizen in a while or it was what I needed on this hot afternoon, but this is a really good Hefe and one that I will be getting again on my next trip to the store.

Light clear yellow pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor are classic hefeweizen. I get a lot of wheat, banana and clove notes, as well as a bit of bubblegum in the flavor. Medium, creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice hefeweizen.

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a blindingly white, mixed-grain head. Nose is phenols, bready yeast, banana, clove, nutmeg, and papaya. Sweet up front, with a lot of phenols; it’s almost a little saccharine, but the fruit and clove comes out on the tongue as well. It has some substance to it. Finish is long but hollow; not a lot of depth to it. Decent for a non-German hefe.
