My favorite of the series so far. I love the regular version of their porter but this amped up and aged version is all that and more. The extra oak and vanilla blend in nicely and the mesquite seems even stronger. Will definitely be stashing a few of these away later. drsordr (2662) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - JAN 18, 2013
Sweet almost bubblegum up front. Followed by mild roast and lots of smoke. Dixonian (1562) - Plano, Texas, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Near black pour with a ring of tan head. Nose of smoke, whiskey, vanilla - flavor is very whiskey forward but becomes more smokey as it warms. Chocolate, roast, wood. mar (5417) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Black pour with a khaki head. Vanilla, smoke, bbq, light meat, wood, and faint alcohol. And smoke. Very nice on the palate, heavy vanilla, alcohol, barrel, smoke, chocolate, smooth finish. RollinHard (1024) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - JAN 10, 2013
Pours black with a small ring of foam for a head. Aroma is certainly eventful with notes of smoke, oak, herbs, faint coffee and mildly dark chocolate, subtle medicinal bourbon, and MAYBE some slight hints of sourness, but I might just be imagining that. Flavor of wood, sweet charred bourbon, dark chocolate, coffee and smoke starts things off right. Hints at maltiness and astringency in the same moment. I get the sea salt mention in the description. FInishes with the bourbon and smoke combining for a dry effect, flavor is burnt and herbal but not too bitter. Nearly heavy bodied and not too hot, this is easy drinking, and the carbonation is suitably light. Again, I really can’t tell if there’s signs of infection this time, but I don’t want to take the time to find out. It’s good now, and I’m happy to report that about something from Ranger Creek.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours a murky, opaque brown with a huge if dissipating beige head. Very lively carbonation. Lovely woody nose, some - pleasantly - rotten fruit and a slight tartness. Medium body, very subtle roast, more dark dried, rotten fruit, vanilla and wood. No real bitterness. Enjoyable. 260713 blutt59 (6564) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Bottle, batch 11/27/12, dark murky brown color with tan head, aroma is smokey pork, flavor has a mesquite creosote note, char, whiskey, vanilla, no heat, nice Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - DEC 26, 2012
The beer pours a black color with a beige head. The aroma is heavy on the smoke, with some chocolate and roasted malt thrown in. As the beer warms the oak notes begin to come through, but I never really get any whiskey notes in the beer. The smoke is very well done and is not overpowering. It allows some chocolate to come through, as well as a hint of caramel malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This beer was showing no signs of infection. jkwalking05 (4740) - Arlington, Texas, USA - DEC 26, 2012
