COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Flanders Red Ale is a blend of 18 and 24 month barrels, resulting in a balanced, mature sour beer. It was re-fermented with strains of Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus and Pediococcus, giving it a well developed and complex aroma of tart cherries with underling rich earthy tones. These notes are complemented by the addition of local Texas figs and tart red cherries. This sherry-like sour is deep red in color with hints of dark stone fruits and red apple and a slight tartness.

Pour is a murky copper with hues of red and a thin amount of light brown head. Nose is dark fruits, hint of dry oak, acetic acid, and light musk, slightly moldy bread. Taste is bready with a light mold to it, some dark berry fruits, leathery brett and faintly acetic finish. Soft carbonation on a medium body with a fuzzy feel.

Bottle:   Dark dirty caramel, deep brown, thin sudsy sandy head, no real lacing (to be expected).   Soft woody and unripened cherry on the nose.   Smells pretty good, but its a soft example.   Similar on the tongue, woody (oak), with unripened cherry, but also some dark pitted fruit.   Soft overall, not too tart, only a wee bit dry.   Pretty pedestrian, but its still fairly tasty.   Body and mouthfeel are average.   Finish has a little bit of mulled spiced wine like attributes.   Simple overall, a bit lighter, but with a slightly spicy finish.   Thanks Bill!

Bottle Julie brought back from San Antonio. Pours hazy ruddy brown with a transient tan smear. Rather tart cherry aroma. Rather! Med body, more or less. Mouth twitches at first contact. It is sour with some dark malt and fruit underlaying the cherries. It is and finishes tart/sour. Tho it mellows out with time. Good drink.

Hazy red brown pour with a thin off white that fades to a ring almost instantly. Aroma is cherry, wood, and a little musty with some faint vinegar in the background. Taste starts with slightly tart cherry then goes into some lacto and finishes earthy. Very faint tartness and hardly sour. Very short. Body is thin with a little prickle from the carbonation. There are some nice components to it, but it lacks depth and again flavors are very short.
