Tap at Rapp. Murky reddish brown pour. Huge bourbon, oak aroma with some peat notes. Silky smooth malt, candy like sweetness, roasted grain, caramel and bourbon taste. Complex and really good.

Theydon_Bois (20632) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2015
Bottle split at the brewpub, RBWG ’15, 20/02/15. Murky chestnut brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is sweet malt, rich caramel, toasted brown sugar, subtle barrel. Taste comprises rich maltings, biscuit crumble, toffee fudge, nutty, toasted brown sugar, light fruit loaf. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for style, drinks way below the ABV but on the other hand doesn’t deliver the depth of flavour the ABV warrants.

Bottle... RBWG 2015This beer rocks!… Pours mostly clear and mahogany with a small, creamy, khaki head. The bouquet is a luxuriant swirl of vanilla, caramel, coconut and bourbon. Medium to full-bodied and smooth with adequate carbonation. The flavor is a collage of malty caramel, vanilla, oak, bourbon and coconut. Lengthy, silky, lightly boozy finish. World class beer! I’m again reminded why Scotch ale is my favorite style of beer! Just not many good ones out there.
