Tasting at Andy and Pearl’s new place. Pours a hazed brown, no head. Big boozy bourbon and old plum on the nose. Medium bodied, big and sweet, caramel and candy. Lots of warmth, bourbon, big and warm, lots of vanilla.

From notes. Enjoyed at Corbet’s house during a tasting on October 17. 12 oz bottle. The pour is a light red-tinted brown with a thin ring of khaki head that lingers, leaving no lace. The aroma is good. There is a great dark fruit to it and a lot of caramel malts. There is a hint of bourbon and a light vanilla. The oak is lovely. There is a nice toffee on the end. It’s sweet, and I like it. The flavor is much of the same. There is a little oxidation coming through, but it’s not terrible. The dark fruits and toffee really carry it. I love how subtle, yet pertinent the oak, bourbon, and light vanilla are. This is a great English barleywine. The mouth feel is thick and chewy with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly sweet caramel and vanilla bourbon. This is awesome. Need more of these quality barleywines in my life. dmac (6647) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - SEP 29, 2016
Bottle shared at Puzzl’s. Poured a muddy brown with a smaller foamy light beige head. Aroma of caramel, booze, molasses, toffee, cardboard, and newspaper. Flavor is the same as the aroma. Medium body with softer carbonation and no heat. Not bad but a little old. jcwattsrugger (12608) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - SEP 3, 2016

Bottle split at the brewpub during RBWG ’15 pourin buse day, 20/02/15.
Murky chestnut brown with a moderate beige covering.
Nose is sticky toffee pudding, spice, dates, subtle barrel, fruit loaf.
Taste comprises rich malt, dark fruit rinds, figs, Xmas cake, dates.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, light warming alcohol in the close.
Ok BA BW but doesn’t really deliver the depth the ABV demands.

2/20/15. Sampled during RBWG 2015. Amber pour with a nice khaki head, good lacing. Great aroma, really good, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, light oak and whiskey adds vanilla and complexity. Good flavor, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, light wood and whiskey, vanilla. Tasty! jackl (8633) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 24, 2015
Sample @ Rapp Brewing during RBWG. Cheers to the Rapp Crew! Amber pour with a small head. Toasted grains and trail mix. Some caramelized red apple skin. Crackling Oat Bran cereal. Sweet caramel-covered raisins. Somewhat creamy body. Only some vanilla character reveals that this beer was barrel aged. Full body, slick. bytemesis (9815) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAY 28, 2015
Bottle thanks to Homer. Pours hazy reddish hazel, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is caramel, bourbon, vanilla, toffee, fig. Flavor is fully sweet, dates and figs, vanilla, oranges, dark sugar. Full body, light astringence. OmegaX (1383) - Florida, USA - MAR 29, 2015
Bottle into snifter at home. Aroma seemed to have a slight oxidation to it but also huge caramel and vanilla notes. The barrel qualities were not overwhelming the hard hitting malt presence. Flavor is huge. I mean tons of flavor in every sip. Very rich caramel, vanilla, bourbon, fruity notes, barrel. Very good balance of flavors. Chewy texture and very rich. Good stuff, Greg! Bottle bought on 3-15-15. Nose is super chewy, raisin, dried fruit, light booze. Overall amazeballs. Dark brown pour. Minimal head. Taste reminds me if thomas hardy. Light wood and vanilla throughout and is always conplimentary. A light smooth alcohol in the ears. Very smooth not hot. Overall an excellent beer where the barrel character doesn’t dominate but actually just accentuates the base beer. Although I love booze barrel bombs this is damn fine.
