Know smoked squash beer and know yourself. We chose Ben Bottoms’s home brew recipe to duplicate with him for our combined Pro-Am entry this year at GABF (talk about your Battlefield Earth!). Ben’s list of ingredients stretches to the cosmos, including pale, pilsner, Munich, C-60 and C-80 crystal, Dextra-pils, Carafa 2 and wheat malts, and a little flaked barley just for good measure. Oh, and squash. Ben smoked his own Hubbard squash, but we used acorn, smoked at the yearly smokeout at the Pub at Piper’s Creek. Incidental amounts of Cascade were added twice.
