To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Ann Arbor pub that’s been a gathering place for generations of University of Michigan students, townies and beer lovers, Larry Bell created a recipe that would put the focus on malt, contra today’s trend toward hop bombs. The result: A pleasantly drinkable brown ale with a remarkably complex flavor profile owing to the use of nine different specialty grains.
