330ml Flasche. Klar und kastanienbraun mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Malzig. Ordentlicher Körper. Vollmundig. ganache (5893) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 12, 2012
Bottle by 13.03.13. Great nose, really doughy and lightly spicy malt, caramel with burnt bread crusts and even a little pumpernickel, beautiful (and unusual!) dark garnet pour with a rocky tan head. Watery light body with some caramel, fizzy with faint bitterness, but thankfully isn’t all that sweet, and so wins on balance points. There are some dirty bitter burned notes, almost ashy, which come to dominate at the finish and beyond, but the overall impression is a good one. Bottle from the brewery tap, pours a mahogany-red with a fluffy light beige head, grassy hops and caramel on the nose, some initial roastiness in the mouth, then some burnt toffee coming through along with herby grassy dry-bitter hops, finishing with a burnt-bitter edge.

Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAY 12, 2014
Draught at the brewpub. Clear dark copper shade, light brown head. Caramel aroma. Taste has plenty more caramel and is also quite bready. The other thing going on is a spicy anise-like flavour. Maybe not to everyone’s taste, but I definitely appreciated it. adamnowek (2702) - Brussels, BELGIUM - OCT 8, 2014
Nice brownish red that matches the label colour. Malty in aroma and taste but not overly dry. Very nice. McWorta (1627) - LUXEMBOURG - NOV 15, 2014
Amber-red-brown crystal clear colour with a fading dark white head. On the nose aromas of toast, caramel, currantloaf, bread with a light hint of herbs develops. A brief fizzyness offers a light slick texture and a medium body. Flavours of caramel sweetness juicy bready maltyness with some herbal influences arises. The finish is lasting a while keeping the herb-bread sweetness in balance yet somewhat sticky. Pretty nice. Erzengel (8695) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - SEP 13, 2015
Nice smooth "red" beginning. Soft malt, hints of dryness and roast. Great combination on a highly drinkable basis. Nice soft malt, smooth. The bitterness is really low, nice malt. Great sessionable with a dry malty finish.
