Nocturne (1917) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAY 12, 2014
Draught at the brewpub. Clear dark copper shade, light brown head. Caramel aroma. Taste has plenty more caramel and is also quite bready. The other thing going on is a spicy anise-like flavour. Maybe not to everyones taste, but I definitely appreciated it.

Nice brownish red that matches the label colour. Malty in aroma and taste but not overly dry. Very nice.

McWorta (1560) - LUXEMBOURG - NOV 15, 2014
Amber-red-brown crystal clear colour with a fading dark white head. On the nose aromas of toast, caramel, currantloaf, bread with a light hint of herbs develops. A brief fizzyness offers a light slick texture and a medium body. Flavours of caramel sweetness juicy bready maltyness with some herbal influences arises. The finish is lasting a while keeping the herb-bread sweetness in balance yet somewhat sticky. Pretty nice.

Nice smooth "red" beginning. Soft malt, hints of dryness and roast. Great combination on a highly drinkable basis. Nice soft malt, smooth. The bitterness is really low, nice malt. Great sessionable with a dry malty finish.

Pours red into the bottle with a creamy head. Optically, quite pleasing. Aroma is caramel malt, sliced apple, and a bit of cherry. Taste is lightly malty, caramel, lots of cherry, a bit sweet, and the palate is fizzy. Second impression: if Dr Pepper were a beer, then this would be it. Actually interestingly sweet for a beer brewed to the Rheinheitsgebot (without actual sugar). Finish is short with cherry notes. Started off well, but the overall taste lost its appeal with me about mid-bottle. OK.

bartlebier (3633) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - OCT 16, 2012
UPDATED: APR 22, 2015 Meh - drinkable, but somehow tastes unnecessary. d Have to subscribe to one of previous raters "caramel sweetish vienna" and have to conclude Ratsherrn is trying to jump the tiny German craft bandwagon with boots too tight and small. Tastes hasty, caramelised metallics with a whiff of nobler hops left in unfiltered. / Rerate 04/2015: picking up more toasted malt character this time round, rounded off by a near-herbal hops. Decent.

Clear ruby colour with steady head and medium to smooth body. Nose of light spicy hops. Taste of light malt, hazelnuts, copper, light spicy hops, pink pepper and toffee. Easy to drink and really quaffable. Nice one.
