3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A mildly smoked portor with good malty flavor. Nice aftertaste and not overpowering smoke.
Poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aroma offruittiness, smoke and carmel. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of fruittiness, smoke, carmel and light roastiness with a crisp dry lingering roasty, smokey finish. johnnyoski (445) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - MAY 11, 2011
Draft. Aroma consists of a smokey, earthy tones. The smoke was also the primary flavor with little else. Lightly carbonated and a little thin. Not one of the better porters I’ve had. 19Ei8hty (1166) - Washington, USA - JUN 23, 2010
Woody nose. Roasted chocolate malt profile with some light roasted coffee bean notes . Smooth and silky. Peat and wood throughout. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - OCT 23, 2009
draft at naked city second anniversary. pours nearly opaque ebony with ruby highlights in the corner. mild chocolateband graham cracker nose. watery lightish body. plenty more chocolate plus toast and roast and those crackers again. a little bit on the run of the mill side, and needs some bubbles. Smoked aroma. Small tan head. Dark coloured fruity and smooth on the palate with some dryness and bitterness in a smoked finish.
(Draught) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of smoke, roasted grain, and coffee. Flavor of smoke, coffee, light chocolate, and roasted malt. BillKismet (4145) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 19, 2007
Muddy colored with a slight chocolate head. Enticing deep roast aroma with a natural smokiness. Nice smoky peppery flavor. Would love to brew something like this for summer grill-outs. Perfectly balanced. Another excellent, underrated beer from this relatively unknown brewpub/ oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 24, 2006
Pours a dark brown light tan head. Taste is dry roasted malt with hints of coffee, smoke, chocolate. segfault (103) - Centennial, Colorado, USA - JAN 3, 2006
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2006 GABF 2005 (I poured this one as a volunteer). This one was okay. Watery compared to many porters. The bit of smokiness was the main redeeming feature of this beer. fordest (2469) - Santee/San Diego, California, USA - SEP 28, 2005
This was my favorite of the three I tried at the brewery today. Very dark but not a lot of head. Aromas were a bit lacking, but the flavor was better. A little chocolate, but mostly just smoky malts. Pretty good.
