Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 5, 2016
2006 bottle. The cork had dried out and cracked. Pours with slight haze but mainly clear with color of brandy, a dark amber. Aroma of honey and booze. It enters thick but evaporates quickly on the tongue. The apple butter, jammy quality leads to a drier, mustier finish with a hint of integrated acidity. It comes across as a mature sipper. Bottle - Vintage 2006 - Berry and some balsamic notes. Deep copper brown. Dark cooked and carmalized apple with a long sweet cooked Apple finish. Lots of sherry like notes. Nice. mcberko (18390) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 4, 2016
2006 vintage. 200mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany. Aroma brings out notes of balsamic, sherry, some wood, and caramel. Flavour doesn’t quite seem like an ice cider, bringing out notes of caramel fudge, some light balsamic, a little sherry and light apple acidity on the finish. Wouldn’t normally like the balsamic in this, but it’s just subtle enough to be a plus. Excellent stuff. lupulist (348) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 4, 2016
2006 bottle. Pours a dark ruby colour. Aroma of sherry and red apple skins. Tastes lightly sweet, with a touch of balsamic notes likely from oxidation. Very complex, even if unintentional. fiulijn (20938) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 30, 2011
Corked bottle, 200ml, from Liberty Wine on Granville Island; 40$, easily the most expensive drink so far

vintage 2007, 3 years old
Beautiful dark copper color, still, with long legs on the sides of the glass.
Intense aroma of apples and pears, stewed fruits, light cinnamon; the hint of alcohol adds complexity.
Thick body; very sweet apple and apricot syrup, with notes of caramel and brown sugar, but balanced by a high degree of acidity; seducing alcohol warmth; there are traces of wood that create a very mild astringency on the palate in the finish.
[995-20071223] 375mL (w/ GregClow, jerc; Vintage 2006). Mildly tart apple and pear aroma. Clear, orange amber body has no head. Sweet mango apple flavour has a mildly acidic pineapple finish. Sweet medium body. Enjoyable. GregClow (3402) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 24, 2007
Bottle shared with jerc & mabel - their bottle. 2006 vintage. Deep golden with a reddish tinge. Aroma of slightly browned spiced apples, with back notes of pear and honey. Flavour of sweet apple and pear to start, with apple skin notes in the middle, and a surprisingly tart/acidic finish. The booze comes through a bit heavy in the finish as well. Enjoyable in small doses. jercraigs (10651) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 24, 2007
2006 Vintage. Bottle from the cidery. Golden yellow body coats the glass just a bit. (3+) Sweet boozy aroma of fresh apples and baked apples, hints of pears. (7+) Tart and tanniny apples lead into the flavour, and notes of apple skins over a sweet foundation. Surpriingly acidic finish is both refreshing and jarring at the same time. Something in the flavour I cannot place that detracts from the overall impression. (7+) Thick medium to full bodied palate is on the syrupy side and sits heavily on the tongue. (3+) A large sample is a struggle to finish, a large bottle is definitely something you need to share or spread over a long period of time. Very nice, but not... something. 7/3/7/3+/16 CapFlu (5129) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 31, 2007
(375ml bottle) Purchased at Spinnakers Spirits Merchant in Vic West for $38. Pours a deep golden with reddish hues. Appears to be sugar sediment at the bottom? Nose of spiced apple, iodine and honey. Very potent alcohol aroma. Flavour is incredibly sweet and robust, good alcohol through the mid-palate and a lasting bitter syrup elixir to the finish. Very enjoyable! UPDATED: OCT 4, 2016 2016 rating, 2006 vintage. This has a somewhat oxidized aroma, with vaguely syrupy apple. Lots of apple, some good fruit and acidity but it’s also showing a fair bit of oxidation that lends it more of those rounded notes. I probably like it less, but won’t change the score.
Original 2006 rating: Golden, still. The aroma is of lightly spiced apple crisp. Rich, spicy, luxurious flavours...apples and wood and brown sugar, with late alcohol to dry out the finish just slightly. So rich, as it should be. 8-4-8-4-16 = 4.0
