Red/amber colored. Nice spicy/fruity malts and a nice bitterness at the end. Could be a good session ale, but might get too sweet after a few. Indra (2710) - Suburbia, Kansas, USA - NOV 24, 2002
Aroma like a well-stocked spice rack. Medium amber color with a lasting, massively fluffy head. Flavor is citric, spicy, faintly sweet, and has some leafy hop bitterness. Finish is fruity, bready and lightly acidic, dry and tangy. Medium bodied. Sweetens out a bit as it warms. Interesting enough. Rockinout (966) - Kent, Ohio, USA - NOV 18, 2002
2002. Cloudy amber medium body, light, crisp mouthfeel. Thick head, earthy, coriander, leathery nose. Spicy rum toward the finish. daboskabouter (1469) - Fergus, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 9, 2002
Bubbly, cloudy light brown appearance. Alcohol, a little fruit and some yeast in the nose. Alcohol, light chocolate, bitter hop finish and a touch of cloves at the end, and that is all the spice that I encountered from a vast collection accounted for on the bottle. Not a bad brew. Radek Kliber (7483) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - SEP 8, 2002
Cloudy with orange scent, white head, average size bubbles. Sharp, spicy, alcoholic, bitter. Cloves on the end.

Dull light brown; aroma is slightly spicy, yeasty; slight cinnamon, earthy malt, and dry yeastiness. eczematic (1326) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - SEP 6, 2002
Look, this could rate very highly except for the fact that it is so monstrously foamy that you can't get any beer to your lips for a good 15 minutes. by way of compensation, the foam tastes pretty good - intensely spicy and hoppy. once you get to the beer itself, it's a really nicely warming, very spicy (cloves, coriander, ginger, like the label says) ale that reminds me of a good rum'n'raisin icecream. very dry, with not much malt flavour, and a long, complex finish that includes marzipan among other weirdnesses. bonvivant (169) - Smithfield, Virginia, USA - AUG 1, 2002
Nice malts and hop balance with a fruity, raisins and honey body............. heykevin (1287) - Decorah, Iowa, USA - JUN 24, 2002
Quite pale, aroma of first cinnamon and then nutmeg. Decent maltiness with good background hops and spicing that is not overdone. Solid. austinpowers (2831) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 3, 2002
The prior reviews indicate RCH has some quality-control problems with this beer. I didn't find it overly foamy and it certainly wasn't gueuze-like. This beer was quite bitter in body and finish. I taste considerable spices and a bit of metallic bitterness. A good brew which won a CAMRA gold medal.
