COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
First brewed to celebrate the 500th guest beer at the Dartmouth Inn, Newton Abbot, and was named by a customer in a competition. It went down so well that it has become a regular beer. This enigmatic full bodied beer with malty hoppy fruit bitter with a sweet taste which all vie for dominance in this complex and well crafted premium chestnut coloured ale

500ml bottle, poured into a straight Firkin Off Licence pint glass. Rather fitting as this long defunct outlet was where I first came across RCH brews many moons ago. Darkish brown with a light creamy head, marshmallow aroma with a good, malt & hop taste. Sweetish with some fruit & caramel, the epitome of a good English bitter.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - deep copper. Nice fluffy head. Nose - strawberry jam (with real fruit). Taste - more strawberry jam with biscuits. Jammy Dodgers again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - good beer.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Piwo ma fajna kremowa na jeden palec grubosc pianki, kolor miedziano-herbaciany, zapach suszonego siana i trawy. W smaku trawiaste, goryczkowe konkretnie, nieco kremowosci brytyjskiego pudinga, gorycz wszechobecna zdominowala nawet te srednia slodowosc. Nieco oleiste i jakby tluste piwo. Bitter mocno nachmielowy. I like that.

Cask at the Counting House. Clear, dark copper with a thick creamy white head. Not much on the nose, a little toffee perhaps. Flavour is sweet, toffee and fruit. Reminds me of fruity toffee sweet from my childhood.

Cask at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear amber colour with a medium off white head. Aroma of toffee, fruit, some red berries, slight bready malts, subtle treacle and spicy hops. Taste of toffee, fruit, some red berries, slight bready malts, a little coffee, maybe smoke and spicy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A soft, dryish, malty, spicy hop bitterness in the finish. A fruity beer with a lot of malty flavour and a spicy hop bitterness. Not to bad.

Cask HP at The Crosse Keys Bishopsgate as RCH East Street. Dark amber orange, still, small beige head, dotted lacing. Aroma is soapy and fruity, musty on the turn tangerine, some wholemeal bread. Body is fairly light with soft carbonation. Taste is toffeeish malt, a little phenolic, soapy, spoiled plum, damp flannel with a drying finish. Overall, just OK.

Cask at Den Engel, Leek. Pours chestnut with an off white head. Smooth, creamy, sweet, good start, sort of dies on its backside bit too bitter on the finish.
