Bottled 50cl. It pours a ruby beer with ruby reflects. Small creamy beige head. Good retention. The nose is of roasted malt, milk chocolate, lemon peel, cork and mint - very smooth and pleasant with quite a lot of candy. Smooth taste of roasted malt with hints of chocolate, mint, cress, quite a lot of cherries, tar and cork. Slightly vinous. Woody and faintly smoky. Sweet. Some candy floss and lemon peel sneaking in - which I really like. Complex. Light to medium bodied. Nice lacework. Pleasant mouthfeel. Decent bitterness. The finish is dry with hints of coffee, lemon peel, mineral water, snow!? and vanilla. Excellent. Thanks a lot Bov for this wonderful beer! wlajwl (6812) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - FEB 10, 2011
A very good porter that is helped with complexity in the malts, just a great standard porter. sloshgator (741) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Served on cask. Nice malty flavor. Retains a nice head. Like a beer you would get in England. DIBBLE (103) - Worthing, West Sussex, ENGLAND - MAR 29, 2015
Bottle from Wyevale Garden Centre, Findon. Aroma: licorice, roasted malt. Short tan head w/minor lacing. Sherberty fizz. Thick and smooth. Complex mellow flavours: coffee, dark chocolate, roast malt, diesel, licorice, herbal hoppy bitterness, iron. BeerLimey (2154) - California, USA - DEC 5, 2002
Dark brown with immense initial foaminess. Damp malty aroma, chocolaty, rich cabernet fruitiness with woody grainy dryness. Roasted coffee and chocolate flavor with distinctive oaky dryness. Sherry like fruitiness in the middle and a touch of Baileys alcohol towards the end. Dry but fruity in the aftertaste. Exceptional flavor, one of the best imported English ales I’ve had in a while.

Dark brown in color with medium large frothy head which lasted. Toffee and slight choclate aroma. Slighty bitter flavor with some earthiness. Roasted aftertaste. Excellent RobBestwick (931) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 9, 2004
rich woody/nutty aroma, classic dark porter appearance with a large and frothy off-white head, very rich and smooth in texture, higly complex flavours, nutty, chocolatey with hints of wood, lingering malty finish, superb. Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JUN 29, 2005
Poured a huge impregnable fortresss of bubbles that verrrrry slowly settled ... after 5 minutes it was still 50% tan foam (like a root beer float) over a black-brown thin liquid. There’s an interesting ashy-smoky aroma. Smooth flavors of medium smoke, roasty malt. Classic porter. nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 22, 2007
Poured a opaque deep dark brown with a creamy, lacing slightly off white head. Smells of roasted malt, nuts, coffee but also a deceptive peat like hint of scotch. Flavor is heavy on the nuts and roasted malt, but a touch of those black currants they talk about, licorice and coffee. Light and creamy mouth feel, finish is lasting bitterness of light coffee. Heard this beer was a classic and I wasn’t disappointed. A porter-lover’s porter. hirigalzkar (3158) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 5, 2015
Cask @ Akkurat. Deliciously drinkable porter with a moderate roastiness, small caramel sweetness, high creaminess and a medium herbal bitterness in the end.smooth.
