Bottle. Very Dark Brown. Roasty malts, toffee/caramel, hint of spice. Dark chocolate and coffee. Dark fruits. Sweet-bitter roast malty porter with nice dark chocolate flavour. Roasted malty dry finish. (2008) PapaSkeetSkeet (1011) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - DEC 1, 2016
root-beer brown with 1.5-inch tan head, frothy and resilient. Aroma is dark chocolate and burnt paper, a touch of barley flour. Body is medium-light, somewhat oily and starchy, with medium-fine, semi-hot carbonation that emerges with a slight burn. Flavor is pond water, burnt wood chips, a touch of bbq sauce, brush. Delicious exhale. Overall, a bit more toasty than a typical English porter, but a bit was in body and flavor. Parmenion777 (364) - Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 12, 2016
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2016 Pours a dark brown black colour with a red tint and a foamy beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and a little fruit. Roast malt, chocolate and coffee flavours, again some dark fruit and a dryish bitterness. Creamy in the mouth and a very moreish. Don2711 (494) - - SEP 12, 2016
UPDATED: SEP 14, 2016 Mahogany. Ash and coffee chocolate tones. Malty. Quite dry and fair bite on the palate. I love these darker porters. Not too sweet. Good one. Will try again. Fair strength. Nice aftertaste. Dark roasted malts in nose. Complex and satisfying.

Cask HP at Hamilton Hall London as ’RCH Old Slug Porter’. Black, opaque, foamy tan head leaves thick lacing. Aroma is earthy cocoa, light dates, some ash. Body is quite light, tingly carbonation. Taste is plasticky, dry, resinous hops, molasses, light plum, touch of ash. Blueprint for a porter. Nice and dry without becoming overly astringent. gegwilson (3806) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JUL 11, 2016

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a dark reddish brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, fruit cake, coffee. Similar flavours, a little sweet, and a little dry to finish. Vladivostok (491) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2016
Draught in Gloucestershire. Usual porter colour with quite a roasty aroma. Not over-sweet but a little on the thin side. OK. gripweed57 (2917) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - NOV 3, 2015
500 ml bottle. Translucent brown color topped by a small creamy beige head. Roasted malt nose hints at dark toffee. Upfront, flavor is more roasted malt with notes of wood and black coffee. Smooth and mildly carbonated. Somewhat dry and bitter, with nutty, dark fruit in finish. Very complex and enjoyable. A delicious British Porter that does more with less.
