This years Anniversary Ale truly defies categorization. Starting with our premium two row malt as a foundation, this ale has been carefully engineered to support a prodigious load of American hops. With almost 2 lbs of hops per barrel added to the kettle during the brew, this strong blonde ale is bursting with fruity citrus character. Additional Simcoe hops are added to the tank via dry-hopping, showcasing their unique pineapple essence. Youll find our 14th Anniversary Ale remarkably quaffable, but at 8.5% ABV, we suggest a moderate approach to this celebratory brew.

On tap. Orange color - lots of citrus hop aroma. Flavor is incredibly balanced, love the simcoe dry hopping! This is a very unique and delicious brew.

Sampled at GABF on 9/18/2010.This American Strong/Belgian Strong pours a light gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet with some citrusy hops. A medium bodied Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy and grapefruity. A nice hoppy Belgian style American Strong Ale. Nice carbonation. Crisp and clean with a slight residual sweetness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Tap at the Houston Flying Saucer. Clear gold with a medium head and some nice lacing. The nose is sweet and lightly spicy along with citrus hops and floral perfume. The flavor is moderately dry with light spiciness and the citrus hops again. The finish is dry and a little bitter and hoppy. Pleasant and fresh. A nice brew.

Cloudy golden color. Good white head. Floral hop aroma. Light and full body. Refreshing and delicious. Hard to find flaws with this one. More hops than malt flavor, which is just peachy, only without the peaches.

Cask at the Addison Saucer poured into a goblet. Slightly murky appearance that comes as a rusted amber color. Frothy white head lingers for a substantial period of time. Aroma is a wonderful mixture of sweet hops that carry quite the aromatic kick. Warm and sticky smell. Taste follows suite with similar qualities but less intensity. Smooth and soft floral finish with a sharp sweet fruit finish that melds into a dry cough syrup aftertaste. Everything about this comes together in all the right ways.

reviewing from the bar, so it is minimal and to the point. Pours a nice golden color with very little head... this beer has the most grapefruit on the nose than any other beer I have ever had. It is absolutely amazing. It really smells like grapefruit candy. front is all grapefruit followed by a ton of sweet. The finish is actually very bitter... which is strange. this type of hop presence is typically not bitter, but very sweet. Anyway, this beer gets you very very excited by the nose, and then actually disappoints. by the finish, this tastes like a crappy lager. Though the whole buildup is exciting and very nice. It is like a movie that has awesome trailers, is great during and has the most disappointing ending.

On tap at the Draught House in Austin. The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very hoppy with pine and citrus notes to go along with some yeast and alcohol. The flavor is orange, grapes, caramel malt, yeast and quite a bit of alcohol. The beer is fairly boozy. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2010 This beer is Awesome!. The bar tender at the flying saucer on the Lake in Garland Texas told me this beer was an American Pale ale. I then tasted a sample and told him it must be an IPA. I could tell right of the bat that dry hopping was involved in the brewing process but was again ill advised by the flying saucer bar tender. Clear gold with an abundance of hop aroma. I thought that this beer was an Imperial IPA. I can deal with a American Strong Ale. Salute!
