What do you get when you take our top-selling Firemans #4 and transform it into 4-squared? Blonde ale to the power of awesome! You might ask how we’ve accomplished this, and you probably should. We start with the basic Firemans recipe, add more of our premium 2-row malted barley to bring this blonde ale up to 16°P, then add massive charges of hops to give some bulk to this burly blonde. The clean, dry finish and the signature Crystal and Glacier hops are still there -- we’ve simply multiplied it like crazy. Add to that Herkules, Amarillo and a round of dry-hopping, and you’re left with notes of citrus and a substantial hop flavor and aroma. A truly special beer for our 16th year. Casks of 4-squared have been additionally dry-hopped with Zythos hops, a blend of Northwest "IPA style" hops. Piney, resinous, and a boost of citrus.

A beautiful pour, lots of suspended floaties in this hazy golden beer. Lovely, resilient bright white head...appropriate lacing. I’d give it a 6 if I could on appearance. Aroma is lots of sweet grapefruit, pinecone. Similar on the mouthfeel, sharp with a dry bite towards the finish. Refreshing.

Pours a slight hazy yellow in the glass. Nice citrusy piney hops aroma. Slightly spicy bitter citrus flavor. Overall not too bad... good for a hot day.

Sharp floral and salt biscuit aroma, a nostril toaster. Hazy yellow color, nice and lively. Very dry bitter, minor sweetness and not much else. Dry and resinous feel. Exactly what is expected from reading the brewer’s note, and this is a good thing. A one note beer, but hits it with panache.

Have tried this a number of times and was generally disappointed. Was delighted to sample a current version that has been tweaked and is a bit drier and more hop forward, which is what I always hoped might happen.

Can sampled at Clockworks. Pours a golden body with big white head. Nose is plastic, artificial character and malty. Mouthfeel is on the thin side with notes of weird plastic, grass, soap, spice and vague melon cleaner character.

12 oz can, purchased at the H.E.B, Austin, Tx. Totally for the experience of floating down a river in an inter tube. Sampled multiple cans, aroma is big dry hopping, big floral and citrus nose, no kidding bold right from the can.

Body is light with a very mild bitterness that cuts throughout the grain body. The texture has a dryness that ends clean. Who is calling this a Golden ale? The brewer?

This is a very nicely dry hopped beer no matter what the style classification. Really great drink ability in the hot Texas sun. Refreshing.
