Bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is lightly roasted malt with some caramel and brown sugar. Flavor is moderately sweet caramel malt, with some roasted note, bit of fruitiness, and mild hopping. Pretty decent brown.
Rachel brought this one back from a trip to San Antonio. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with red highlights and a large foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was cola, cocoa, vanilla, fairly prominent nut and a bit of dark fruit. The flavor was woody and toasty with a strong nut presence followed by faint cola, dark fruit and smoke. Long toasty and nutty finish. Medium body. Excellent. I wish I could get more of this one. wombat23 (1507) - Texas, USA - MAR 26, 2016
Draft at the source. Clear brown color with small white head. Nose is roasted malts and coffee. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, light chocolate, and has a fair amount of nuttiness. Good. darbeer75 (911) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - MAR 26, 2016
On tap at Real Ale brewery; Aroma: nutty and chocolatey; Appearance: dark amber with off white head; Taste: nice flavor; nutty but not bad -- not unnatural like many nut ales; malty, not very complex -- reminiscent of a porter; Palate: medium-heavy body; Overall: favorite pour of the day; would buy again if I find it. 12oz Flasche. Dunkelbraunes Bier. Nussiges Aroma, Röstmalz, Schokolade. Geschmack etwas flacher. Haselnuss, geröstete Kokosnuss. dlihcsnatas (755) - Temple, Texas, USA - NOV 1, 2015
It’s very brown with a decent head. Most brown ales I have had are more amber than brown but this one is brown as I guess it should be. Smells roasted with some smoke in it. Taste is caramel, roasted malts, and herbal bitterness. Left a very dry sawdust like aftertaste that was not too desirable. It’s decent and one that I am sure will visit again. Last had this in 2009 and my thoughts on it then are pretty much same now.

Nice rich malty smell. Taste is malty with notes of raisin and fig. Medium body, medium carbonation, and some foam. ttoadee (1511) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 6, 2015
Clear medium brown pour, no head to speak of. Nose is mild coffee and roasted grain. Bittersweet. Middle is nutty malt, medium mouth-feel, touch of coco. Sweetness tapers off some at the end, but still controls the flavor profile. Nice Brown. BVery (10609) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - JUN 14, 2015
Tap at Cottonwood. Brown pour but not terribly dense. Smaller white head. Nut and coffee, hint of sweetness. Not bad in the style for sure. tapthis (272) - Baytown, Texas, USA - JUN 14, 2015
