Tastes just like what it is. A whiskey barrel aged sour porter. There’s a lot going on here for a small brown beer. It has a sour nose with an otherwise sweet malty aroma. The flavor is all sweet and syrupy like apple cider and toasty malt covered in molasses. There is some vanilla and cocoa amongst other things. A complex beer to handle when you just want a new beer.
On tap. Pours with a black body with a minimal tan head. Aromas are of whiskey, chalky, chocolate, dark fruits, sour currants. Lots of barrel character, sawdust. Flavors are of oak, saw dust, chocolate, raisins, vinous, medium sour, lots of vanillin. An odd rum-raisin ice cream character as it warms. Medium carbonation, very vinous and tannic in the finish. djd07 (14366) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 20, 2012
On tap at Draught House. Pours a dark brown with no head. The aroma is fruity malt oak and booze. Thin mouthfeel with a light roast and oak with sour finish. Easy to drink a very good porter from Real Ale. daknole (11044) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Pours a clear, dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma hits with lots of whiskey, fresh cut oak, and some light cocoa notes. Flavor is lightly sour, lots of whiskey and oak notes, some light vanilla. This is really damn delicious.
