Sampled at GABF 2013. Pours an oily black with some tan head. Nose is nutty, chocolate, licorice, malt, light coffee. Flavor has lots of licorice, malt, cherry, chocolate, molasses. Hot finish. Messy. kevinator (2867) - The Colony, Texas, USA - JUL 23, 2013
I enjoyed the original and this upped the ante. Roasted, bourbon and caramel notes in the aroma. Black as night with a small tan head. Oily palate as most of these are coating the mouth. Bourbon and wood are predominant and upfront flavors. The roasted malts are a little lost but remain in the background. Sweet caramel and vanilla comes out as does the alcohol. A nice finisher. Liquid black. Thin appearance in the body. Thin ring head. Oat and chocolate aroma with a thick syrupy character. Flavor is the same. Delicious in an alcoholic dessert sort of way. GODiSSOUTHERN (390) - Virginia, USA - DEC 9, 2012
Amazing full whiskey flavor. Perfectly balanced with the roasted malty notes. Complex great sipper.

Tap at Petrol Station. Black. Huge whiskey nose. Great flavors of sweetness, burnt malts and enough whiskey to taste but not quite overpower the stout. Nice beer. dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 14, 2012
Much better than the regular XV, IMO. Replaces all the extreme bitterness with delicious bourbon and oak notes. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - JUL 4, 2012
On tap at the Common Table’s anniversary party.
The beer pours deep black color with a few small brown bubbles, but nothing you would really call a head. The aroma is very boozy with some raisins and roasted malt thrown in. The flavor is more of the same. There is a ton of oak and bourbon notes, with a lot of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. All of the notes from the original stout meld very well with the bourbon-barrel character. Thick mouthfeel and low carbonation. Very nice. djd07 (16317) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 15, 2012
On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a very dark brown with medium creamy tan head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is roast and chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with a rich vanilla malt and smooth finish. Hides alcohol well maling it easy to drink. Really enjoyed this one. An impressive BA XV. bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUN 15, 2012
