"Another pleasant brew that was closer to the traditional style than I imagined. Dark fruit and light spice on the nose and palate, with a barely descernable hop presence. Finishes slightly dry, spicy, and a little sweet, showing barely any of the abv." bhensonb (15187) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 11, 2014
Bottle from Bu11zeye. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of plummy dark fruit, anise, cognac, raisin, molasses raisin cookie, maybe chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is treacle, plum/raisin, chocolate. A little heat. Like barrel aged, tho it isn’t. What a treat. Finishes chocolate cognac. marcus (10221) - Sacramento, California, USA - AUG 11, 2014
Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours dark brown with an attractive tan head and a roasted treacle and raisin aroma. Smells like it is barrel aged but it isn’t. There is a carbonated chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a dry finish. Don’t know how old this bottle is, but it tastes aged. A nice sipper. Syndicate (180) - Idaho, USA - JUN 19, 2014
Got this thanks to bleeng, Poured a very muddy brown/black with a head that disappeared pretty quickly. Nose is pretty sweet with fig, date, ripe fruittiness, with the belgian candy sugar telling me that this is gonna be a very sweet beer. Im not surprised by the taste. Very sweet teetering on too sweet. I wish this had a bit more carbonation as it would have improved my rating. Mouthfeel is a bit flat with the sweetness lingering maybe a bit longer then it should. I should have shared this pour with someone as 12 oz is probably more then i really wanted. I think this is a beer that i would have enjoyed a bit fresher but still a solid quad. Aroma of biscotti, anise, toffee, milk chocolate. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of a malted milk ball soda with alcohol. There’s dark chocolate, molasses, carob, banana, liquorice, and rum like flavors.

Opaque dark brown - black beer with a good pale tan head. Lights spices on the nose. Palate is soft and dry with fine carbonation. Sweetish malt, some cream. Coca cola and mild generic dark fruits. Touches of mellow cinnamon and cloves. Finishes semi dry with with light candy fruits. Comes together very well. Nice beer!
12 oz bottle. Pours black with a small head. Light malty nose. Interesting quad with some nice Belgian yeast notes. A little toastiness and smooth body. Very easy to drink and the Abv is well hidden. Decent quad from a great brewery. TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 10, 2013
12 oz bottle. Deep brown with a trace of lingering froth. Nose is fig, plum, dough and molasses. Medium body with a tingle; quite warming. Taste is brown sugar, clove and raisin with hints of chocolate and banana. A nice quad with a lively twist. Sammy (12189) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2013
The black malt makes this one, other than that a serviceable quad. Nice sweetness, very drinkable. Thanks Steve S.
