COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our winter seasonal Phoenixx rises from the great ale recipes of the UK, but weve brewed it with a distinctly American attitude. Deep amber in color, Phoenixx delivers subtle notes of toffee and caramel, characteristic of traditional English Crystal malt. Yet with this ale, its all about the hops. Made from a blend of hops from across the pond, highlighted by the Phoenix hop variety from Kent, this special brews signature is its complex and strong hop character. This winter, warm up with a pint or two of a British-inspired beer thats been reborn a Texan. 15.5

Plano, Tx - Total Wine - North Plano - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour, sticky khaki colored head, nice rings of lacing. Aroma has some nutty accents, some cola notes. Interesting flavor with some subtle bitterness with hints of citrus, light nuttiness, some saffron-like spice, a touch of licorice. Thickish mouthfeel.

Bottled. Poured clear medium amber with a wispy off-white head. The aroma picked up redder fruity notes with a little biscuity character beneath.. spicy and earthy accents initially, with some pine resin and citrus showing as it warmed up a bit.. smelled a little too skewed toward the sweets. The flavor found sticky-sweet honey and bready malts at the core, with pepper-accented fruit, pine, and earthy bitterness around.. quite bitter and assertive by the end.. not all that enjoyable. Medium-bodied with just OK feel and flow through the palate.. it was drinkable, but I really dont need another.

Draught at the Alamo Drafthouse - Village, Austin, Oct. 19. Pours a deep amber with an average size long-lasting foamy off-white head. Lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma has a good amount of fruity and spicy hops along with some fruit, caramel malt and a hint of spice. Flavour is fruity, hoppy and quite spicy and has a good bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not sure what style this is supposed to be but its pretty darn good.

Sampled at repeal. Didnt quite know what to expect here having never had a double ESB. Not sure it is that. Caramel and plenty of complex malt. Hops are very much secondary. Othets at the festival liked itba Ot but I was just ok with it.

Pours reddish copper with a nice off white head. The aroma is interesting with some herbal hoppiness, caramel, toffee, and hints of roasted grains all pretty well balanced. The flavor is very herbal with loads of British tasting hops, a little bit of crystal malt and a very lasting bitter finish. More hop forward in the flavor than the aroma and quite tasty. Theres some grapefruit and toasted grains in the finish. Almost like a British IPA.

Pours a copperish color with a white head. The aroma is hops with some toffee and biscuit malt. The flavor is earthy hops along with caramel malt and toffee. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Another good seasonal beer from Real Ale that was recently released in bottles for the first time.
