Deep golden and malty, with a spicy hop flavor and a subtle, well-balanced hop bitterness, Rio Blanco is a uniquely Texan interpretation of an English-style pale ale. The addition of Czech hops gives the ale a refreshing crispness and flavor that will satisfy you under the hottest Texas sun.

Bottle: Great cross over beer, typical Pale Ale without offending anyone. Well balanced, malty and clean. Food Pairing: Honey BBQ ribs.

Originally rated on 2/10/09. Aroma and flavor has a slight citrus presence, and a few toasted malts give it a little complexity. Mouthfeel and appearance are average. Overall its is a little above average, a decent enough brew.

First had this at least a dozen years ago and I suspect the recipe is still the same. Decent hop/malt balance but not much else going on.

Had this years ago as part of a 6 pack sampler but now it is in its own 6 pack. Looking at my notes from years ago this one hasn’t changed much. Malty aroma with a fairly balanced taste of hops and malts. Very chuggable brew and for the price I can plan on buying this one again.

pours a good head, good color, a little hazy but it is unfiltered and unpasteurized. goes down easy. this is a great beer to drink under a big shady pecan tree on a hot, lazy Texas summer day.

AirForceHops (7895) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 7, 2015
Consumed right from a 12 oz bottle at the Austin Airport. OK, could smell anything... The flavor is floral and grassy notes. The hops are held at bay from the malts. Malts are for sure on the English side. Light body with weak bitterness. Decent to have eating an airport brisket sandwich but nothing REAL ordinary.

Rated based on notes taken 14 July 2012 -- Terrible notes taken on this beer. I think it was decent, but lack of notes or an impression leads me to believe it’s forgettable.

kevinator (2791) - The Colony, Texas, USA - MAY 14, 2015
Very average. Mild malt aroma. Average light golden color. Palate was light but left a slight puckering at the finish. Not pleasant. I would describe it as a very malty beer that was left unbalanced by the hops additions. Don’t expect a return visit.

jsmanigold (127) - Texas, USA - APR 1, 2015
Was not really impressed. Barely got a whiff of a citrus aroma. This beer is like a bud with a slight boost in the hop area.

ramboraffe (2257) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 6, 2014
355 ml bottle. Hazy amber with white head. Smell is citrus, hay and grain. Taste is caramel malty with nuts and fruity citrus hops. Semi dry with low bitterness and low carbonation.

beastmaster (381) - Florida, USA - AUG 21, 2014
Caramel amber color. Aroma, malt amber. Pecan, walnut, nutty flavor. Not a big fan. Little bitter, meh
