2008 bottle, pours a hazy reddish orange with a tall frothy tan head, good lacing, beautiful looking beer. Really nice cascade hop nose mixed with carmel malt and orange notes. Sweet toasted malts, orange and a mellow hop finish. Mouth is nice with light carbonation, creamy texture. Really nice barley wine that kind of bridges the gap between American and English. I would love to have more of this......480 calories or not! Angelmonster (199) - Colorado, USA - NOV 26, 2009
This is a review of Sisyphus 2008
Beer pours a small 1 finger white head. Body is golden honey in color with lots of bubbles rising. Head retention and lacing are good
Aroma is of sweet booze. Not too overpowering since it’s mixed with some honey and a bit of citrus. There is also a medicinal smell in there that I cant put my finger on
First taste is of bitter stale hops. This is mixed with viscous caramelized sugar. Dried apricot also comes through and it finishes with some tartness and alcohol.
Mouth feel is great. Carbonation is typical for a barleywine, just enough to liven up the thick body. Beer goes down very smooth, has a syrup like consistency, mixed with a small cloud of head.
Over all this is a pretty good barleywine. Drink ability is good for such a high strength beer. Gonna put some away for another year and see how it evolves.

2007 bottle from Santa. Really never thought I would ever get my hands on this one, but Santa hooked me up. Thanks Santa! Reddish-orange pour with nice, tight, white head. Aroma of apples, cinnamon, candied sugar and hops. Flavor is malt forward, pretty sweet, But it a cool way. Nice, full mouthfeel with good carbonation. Goes down pretty smooth for a huge beer. The mouthfeel is really impressive. Just an awesome beer. What a great way to ring in the new year. Chipper (303) - Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 27, 2010
Dark amber pour with a moderate white head. Aroma is hops and fruit with a nice bitter flavor. Some alcohol burn and long dry finish. Not like the other Barley Wines I’ve had. ttutony (920) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 2, 2010
2009 bottling. Cloudy amber color in the glass with a thin white head. Citrus and fruit aroma, really fantastic. The palate is quite complex which I really enjoyed. There’s a rich malty character with a bitter hop note and a great fruity overtone as well.

I’m reviewing the 2009 release as I’ve kept it in storage. I also recently had the 2008 and believe four years is pushing the age limit on this beer. Surprisingly the hop profile was kept relatively intact. I think this is the best beer by Real Ale. Nice palate and aroma. Amber color with very little head. The 11% abv is very well hidden and making for a very nice after dinner beer. KyotoLefty (10264) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUN 23, 2012
2007 bottle. Malty, cereal nose, citrus, orange, grains. Orange-brown color with no head. Delicious toffee and chocolate flavor, vanilla, butter. Very tasty, smooth and lovely. Well aged.

Orange, tangerine, hoppy taste. Very sweet, bitter aftertaste. Good alcohol presence, not too overpowering for 11.5. Overall pleasant beer, its sweetness is memorable, good bitterness.
