UPDATED: MAR 24, 2005 Poured into a small snifter, this barley wine has a dark cloudy orange and brown appearance. The nose is offered copious amounts of smoky old fruit, sweet pineapple notes popping up sporadically, a surprisingly strong presence of wood, and a sharp burning bite of alcohol, which is pretty screaming at my tongue that this beer is too young to be opening. Sweet on the lips and the front of the tongue, but mildly bitter across the back, with a citric acidity similar to a fresh Bigfoot. At times it is almost meaty in the flavors. Young, hot hops abound in this one.
2011 Sisyphus on draft at Whip-In. Pours clear amber gold with no head. Honey, maple brown sugar oatmeal, raisin. Cardboard, butterscotch little to no carbonation. This beer has done exceptionally well. TBone (17571) - Pori, FINLAND - FEB 21, 2017
Tap at Whip in, Austin. Vintage 2013. Clear nut brown color, firm white head. Aroma is bready and hoppy. Medium to full-bodied. Sticky. Fruity, piney hoppy, a bit bready, sweetish. Covers its abv. Hop-dominating barley wine. wchesser (2076) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 3, 2016
Feb. ’14 bottle from Errl-thanks, Chris! In 12/16. Copper gold. Nose is slightly soapy hops, light oxidation, toffee. Taste is burnt toffee, astringent and bitter hops, on a malty sweeter base. Has held up well. KamGoPro (220) - Texas, USA - MAY 7, 2016

Draft at the source. Amber color with small off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, malt, plum, and honey. Taste is very malty, with some oak, spiciness, and dark fruits. Alcohol is quite noticeable. It’s okay, but in its defense, I’m not the biggest fan of barley wines, at least up to this point. fletchfighters (1532) - AUSTRALIA - JAN 6, 2016
355 ML bottle
Hazy but radiant light Amber color. Looks more like and IPA than a barley wine. Light white head that falls to a thick collar. Spotty lacing and big ABV legs.
Nose is more English like. Big malt profile and very wooded hops. Spicy and woody. Big hop profile nose and smells chewy.m
Taste is big wooded hop assault, very earthy but a huge malt profile to back it up. Complex and chewy. Think a cross between Bigfoot and a malt bomb from England. Very nice. drsordr (2662) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - NOV 25, 2015
Bottle provided by alexsdad06 vintage 2009 pour lightly hazy copper with thin tan head. Nose lots of malt, toffee, caramel, slight dank. Some alcohol and light peppery spice. Taste lightly oxidized, but still reasonable barley wine. Toffee, burnt caramel, molasses and moderate alcohol. BeerRenter76 (1015) - Texas, USA - SEP 11, 2015
Originally rated on 2/4/08. This is the only barleywine i have sampled so i dont have much to judge this stuff against. It was a dark amber with a thin head. Smelled and tasted very malty and thick, sticky sweet citrus and caramel flavors aplenty. Overall i thought it was pretty good and is worth a try especially on a cold winter night.
