UPDATED: OCT 27, 2007 bpmber poured a tan cola like color with tan head, Nose was like cola also???? Taste was a bit of chocolate with some spice and a touch of alcohol and malt sweetness. Not quite sure what this is aiming to be, the beers I have had below are porters and stouts and this is not that?

22 oz sampled thanks to drewbeerme. Pours dark black with a tall beige head. The aroma is nice it has an aged sense to it. Chocolate red fruit, dark fruits, and a little dough. Chocolate and roast flavors, some dark fruit, and a hint of sourness to it? Decent but nothing too exciting.

22oz, pours dark brown with off white head. nose has baker’s chocolate, roast, and sorta musty. flavor has musty dull chocolate, grainy, and milky. alc is well hidden. mouthfeel is milky. i sorta hate this beer because it’s so boring and i find it pointless.

Pours a very dark brown color with a formidable tan head. Excellent lacing that provided a nice frothy blanket to the tiny pieces of sediment that floated throughout the beer. The scent was heavy and strong alcohol with notes of malt, raisins and nuts. There was a nice balance of malt and hops to compliment the carmel and nutty assualt on the palate. This a very interesting beer....I really enjoyed this big boy.

Notes of caramel, toffee and acetylaldehyde up front. Soft mouthfeel with good malt balance and nice subdued hop presence. Clean and balanced finish.

My favorite from Reaper. Tastes very different from a stout, even though it looks like one. A great pint which i’ve had several times at Liar’s. Lots of interesting flavors going on here: cocoa, molasses, and some sweet notes - almost apple like with licorice. But oh so smooth - awesome beer...Definately unique and a must try.

22 oz bottle. Pours a nice dark black with ruby hints and a large creeamy light brown head that lasted the entire time. Aroma was what you would expect, malts- coffee, chocolate, toasted and some sweetness- molasses and some fruitiness. Flavor was similar it comes on with the usual toastted malt flavor but then right before the bitter finish there is a sudden sweetness that I didn’t care for. Hides the 8.5% alcohol very well. Overall a real nice dark ale.

Poured black but not opaque. Beige head. Light roasted malt aroma. Some fruity and doughy notes. The flavor was mildly roasted with some dark fruits. Dry finish with a long bitterness.
