>> When will it end? Clear deep red looking black pour. Vegemite and smoke in the flavor. Nose is burnt caramel, nice enough. Taste lacks other brew flaws, some red apple in there. Perhaps the roast covers up the dishwater and celery house fermentation byproducts. I’d say it was the most drinkable of the lot.
September 26th, 2013 - We’re nearing the mid-point of the Wet N’ Reckless sampler, and getting a little darker as we do. The Down and Out Stout is a deep, murky brown, though the clarity is concealed by the frosted plastic the plastic cup it was served in. The smell is muted, probably because the aroma is shuffling off the surface and away before I can collect it into my olfactory. But the taste is much more vocal - deep and sweet, with lots of prune and dark fig sugar, though little roasted malt to balance it out. The palate is of medium weight, and maybe a little too light given the sweetness here, but this is the most enjoyable brew from this brewery and sampler set so far. anders37 (27226) - Malmö, SWEDEN - APR 14, 2013
