This poured a lighter brown with a beige head. Aroma was big only bourbon, cartel, and dark fruit. Flavor was good blend of barrel and quality barleywine underneath, very rich, but a little stringent. Still very nice barrel aging. wchesser (2076) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 9, 2014
Extra from westmeister-thanks! Deep copper brown with out much head but pretty sticky lacing. Nose is really rich caramel, sweet malts, some bourbon, and light coconut and oak. Sweet upfront, with some wood and hop spiciness, burnt sugar, bit boozy finish, with bitter end. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 8, 2014
12oz bottle, courtesy of markwise, pours with a nice murky amber body that supports a thin light tan head. The aroma offers up molasses, prunes, brown sugar, some nuttiness and then mild smooth bourbon and booze. Nice indeed. The taste starts smooth and rich with molasses and smooth nutty sweetness and then quickly picking up brown sugar dredged prunes and dates amid a pleasing pine hoppiness. Just as the dark fruity esters start to reach nectar goodness the smooth sweet bourbon notes come to the surface with more nuttiness and some modest booze to help bring this to the finish. This is a great sipper. puboflyons (3433) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 4, 2014
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle acquired in trade from a non RB-member. An interesting reddish-brown pour with a short-lived head. Barley malts, some milk chocolate, dark fruits are the key aroma. Medium to heavy body. I really pick up a touch of chocolate with those barley malts in the taste and there is a pungent, bitterness at the end. A very nice beer. I like to sit on barleywines occasionally but in this case it tastes great fresh. Gachupines (1252) - USA - JUL 31, 2014
Dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is vanilla and spice, some nutmeg and cinnamon. Off putting for some reason. Flavor is a bit harsh. Strong vanilla and bitter spice. Almost like burnt cinnamon. Very sugary finish.

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a bottle at the late night tasting after the RBWG Grand Tasting. Pours clear brown/amber with an average beige head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is bourbon, caramel, toffee, cereal, toasted bitterness, and a touch of green hops. The flavor is a bit more bitter than I expected with more hops and the toasted character from the the nose, along with nice caramel malt and plenty of maple bourbon. The body is full with average carbonation and a long bitter caramel and maple bourbon finish. decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JUL 21, 2014
Deep red pour with white head and lace. Aroma is dried fruit/raisins and citrus hops. Flavor is dried fruit and a resiny bitter. Medium body with good carbonation. cpetrone84 (1810) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 6, 2014
Pour is dark copper, a bit murky with a small amount of tan head. Nose is tons of sticky caramel and a bit of brown sugar, a decent bit of rich maltiness, light bourbon notes and a hint of wood. Taste is a bit sweet, the rich malts depth isn’t quite there, a good bit of caramel and more brown sugar, slightly cooked, flavor thins towards the back. Bourbon comes in on the finish, soft, full bodied and moderate carbonation and a bit of lingering booziness. Ed5388 (3480) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - MAY 9, 2014
12oz bottle from dmac. Thanks bro! Pours a cloudy mahogany brown color with a small foamy off white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, dried dark fruit, bourbon, dry wood, and leather. Taste of sweet fruit, lots of caramel, dry wood, hints of bourbon, and earthy hops. jw0406 (1275) - atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 22, 2014
12 oz bottle pours a dark brown color with an off white head. Aromas off burnt sugar, bourbon, sweet dark roasted malt. Full bodied, sticky finish.
