I like this one. Nice fresh dank hops are the first aroma and they meld well with the bittersweet chocolate that takes over in the flavor. jexmachina (9) - Winter Garden, Florida, USA - JUN 15, 2013 does not count
Hints of bittersweet chocolate make this black IPA palatable. Would make a better beer to cook with than drink. jbrana (640) - NASHVILLE, Tennessee, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Roasty, creamy, and dark, yet hoppy with floral and citrus notes. Has flavors of coffee, chocolate, and grapefruit, which might not marry as well as I would hope, but is still a uniquely complex beer that is still enjoyable.

5/21/13. 12oz bottle thanks to a rep! Dark brown pour, almost black, with a small tan head. Dank hops and a touch of roast on the nose, some soft wheat, and a tiny bready rye spice kick. Nice roasted malt flavor, some coffee and dryness, dank hops, light bitterness, and lingering coffee/roast. Tasty enough! edgallow (4628) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 18, 2013
12 oz bottle pours black with a tan head. Aroma of malts, pine, citrus and coffee. Taste is malts, citrus and caramel.

Strong aroma - it just about follows me around the room - is quite rye-ish, with firm earthy and hoppy notes and hints of fresh-baked pumpernickel bread (I love pumpernickel BTW!) and regular barley malt. Comes out of the growler a slightly reddish dark chocolate brown with a thick and rather persistent dirty tan head. Flavor is - superb. Mouth-filling. Sublime. Friggin’ delish. Smoky, hoppy, scarcely bitter, hints of licorice, molasses, even a little sour orange and semi-sweet chocolate. Could this get any better? Scarcely. Thick, smooth texture has lively fizz that leaves a nice hoppy and smoky finish. I hope this becomes a Red Brick standard, because I sure could return to it again and again and again! jw0406 (1315) - atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 15, 2013
12 oz bottle pours a dark black color with a nice tan head. Aromas of citrus, pine, chocolate in the background. Full bodied, complex with a bitter finish. Good. jrob21 (3875) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 13, 2013
On tap at taco Mac Decatur. This one hits a nice balance between the roastiness and the hop profile. Hops are somewhat muted but complement the bitterness of the roasted malt. Pitch black pour almost bordering on porter status with the looks of it. Little bit of orange citrus aroma. The flavor starts off with the roasted bittersweet malt and coffee flavors. Fading into the the hop profile and you are left with the bitter citrus and pine flavors. A better representation of this tough style. drfabulous (8809) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - MAY 6, 2013
12 ounce thanks to James. Black with strong roast and coffee. Nice overall hop presence. Good hop aroma. SSSteve (4006) - - MAY 5, 2013
bottle. near black with a large, fine bubbled, whipped, brown head. sweet aromas of creamed coffee, caramel. flavor has notes of coffee with plenty of cream and toffee. the malt bill is awesome. the tropical fruity hop notes are also very interesting in this style. full bodied with medium carbonation.
