Can. Pours a clear brown body with a small wispy beige head. The nose is heavy chai spice with some light roasted and chocolate malt. The flavor is very much dominated by the chai spice, from start to finish. Some roasted malt, chocolate, and a bit of lactose sweetness under all the spice. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a long lingering finish. Not a huge fan of chai spice, so this one wasn’t a big winner for me, but if you’re into chai, this might do it for you. 12 oz. bottle, thanks to Ian! Dark, opaque, brown color, with no head; just a few bubbles. The aroma is mild roast coffee, chocolate syrup, cinnamon and ginger, and a touch of pine-ish hops. Sweet and lightly roasty, with a mild bitterness that gives it pretty good balance. Medium to heavy body, malty, a bit dry, and clean. This is a pretty simple stout, and the spices don’t overwhelm. Pour is a black with no head at all. Aroma is a decent almost decadent chai tea with some silky malt. Flavor is more chai spice with a bitter bakers chcocolate. Not much of a sweet lactose here this brewer went all in with the chai spices. Not as lactose forward as other milk stouts but this does have a chai spice to it.

Tap @ Brixx Knoxville - pours pitch with a tan head, some lacing on the glass. I love masala chai mixes so I had high hopes for this beer, but it falls short. I’m getting some cinnamon and some peppery notes on top of the sweetness of the stout, but it’s very subdued. I’m not getting the clove or the anise that you might see in a common chai spice blend. Draft... Pours black with a brief, khaki head. Aroma-wise, Red Brick is trying to subtle me to death here. I LOVE chai. LOVE IT! I wanted this beer to be the dark ale equivalent. I Wanted in-my-face chai. Nope. Hardly any chai spices in the aroma or flavor. The base beer is roasty and charred accompanied by a hint of blackstrap molasses. Medium to full-bodied and mildly oily with stinging carbonation. The flavor is espresso-roast coffee and black patent malt. This isn’t all that sweet. In fact, there’s near-perfect balance here. Crisp, carbonic, dry finale. Average stout. This doesn’t have the body of an oatmeal stout or the sweet flavor of a milk stout. Pours a deep oily black, with a light head that reduces quickly to a tiny ring of bubbles. The nose is of nice pie spices. Flavors of chai tea are there, indeed, and mix with a semi-sweet dark chocolate back. The finish closes in on the warm pie spice notes. Luckily, the lactose is held in check to let the spiced-tea accents work well with the chocolate and light roasted malt contingencies. Medium-bodied, with a complex flavor palate, this goes down well in the cold months of winter, or drinkable enough with enough activity in the mouth to last all year round. Decent experiment here!
