Bottle. From who the hell knows where. Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma is smoked, beefy, vanilla bean and some malts. Flavor is sour, tart, smoky and roasted malts. Very sour. Yuck. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle pours black with a tan head. Aroma of smoke, wood, malt and a hint of sweetness. Taste was kind of funky, smokey then tart, not much else.

Dark black brown body. Think pale brown head. No lacing. Smell is whiskey, vanilla, chocolate and a little smoke. Flavor is overly sweet and cloying. Vanilla and roasted, chocolaty malts. Medium bodied, thin finish.

Bottle. Pours a near-black color with effectively zero head. Nose has some roasting and smokey notes to it. Taste is much smokier than the nose, but very tasty. Smooth drink.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2011 Series Three of Brick Mason Series. 11oz pour, TacoMac, Windward. Dark brown, thick brown head. Aroma of chocolate. Tastes of cappuccino, with smoke. Nice vanilla, lots of vanilla, some roasted malts add coffee notes. Finishes with chocolate. Light distant smoke finish. Very distant smoke. The vanilla is the most memorable.

bottle. black with ruby highlights and no head. smoldering campfire, bitter dark chocolate and bourbon in aroma. flavor is both smoky and oaky. very much like burning wood, some ash, and a slice of pepper steak. palate, however, is a bit thin. smooth for 7.5%, but thin.

aracauna (3709) - Georgia, USA - OCT 14, 2011
Very easy drinking. All of the extra elements - smoke, whisky barrel, vanilla - are notes. Nothing overpowers anything else. Chocolatey malt goes well with additions. Finish is a little weird, but not bad. Good beer.

4 pack from Ale Yeah! This needs more smoke. The smoke character is barely noticeable. Perhaps some far off campfire is buried beneath the very sweet vanilla bean aroma and flavor. Though this beer is too sweet to have more than 1/2 a bottle, the first few sips are quite enjoyable. It becomes a vanilla onslaught quickly though. The finish lets a little bittersweetness come out, but it’s not enough to provide real balance. This beer really needs more smoke.

Pours beautiful dark chocolate with a decent off white head. The aroma is predominantly smoked malts with light sweetness, not much vanilla in the nose though. The flavor brings smooth notes of smoked malts and light vanilla on a smooth body that has no alcohol notes at all.

12oz bottle shared by drowland, pours a very dark brown with a tannish head and some lacing through out the glass, the aroma had a hint of bourbon with a sweetness of vanilla, the flavor was pretty weak for a BA beer, the whiskey really doesn’t shine through all that much, slight chocolate flavor in the finish, really thin mouthfeel.
