Brewed with two barley malts and five varieties of American hops, Red Dog is a bold, yet uncommonly smooth beer. Golden in color, Red Dog is a full-flavored lager with medium body and crisp, refreshing finish. Introduced in 1994, Red Dog won the Gold for American-Style Lager/Ale or Cream at the 2002 Great American Beer Festival.

Red Dog. I always thought this was going to be red for reason. Perhaps it is because the marketing proposed a red dog as the mascot. Buyer beware, this beer is not red, nor does it taste very good, it is simply a cheap marketing gag targeted at younger drinkers of beer.

24oz can pours a clear pale golden with a large white head. Corn malt aroma. Taste of mild smooth corn grain with light lager yeast. Yep beer, non offensive chugging beer.

Old college rating. A little grainy/bitter bite, a little abrasive but made it unique in the style.

Memory rating...not a terrible beer...flavor was ok...they really make this still?...drinkable in a pinch.

hauxe (1024) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - DEC 24, 2015
Rated from old notes. So non-deScript it defies deScription. Weak, bland, watery drink with bubbles and some fizz. That pretty much sums it up. Do not buy it, and if gifted, nod politely, smile, and drainpour at the first opportunity.

PhatCatt (87) - Michigan, USA - NOV 20, 2015
UPDATED: JUN 11, 2017 Medium bodied, full flavor and absulutely NOT watery and bad (quite the opposite). Piney. Golden color when poured into glass. Medium carbonation.

Originally rated on 2/6/08- Well i guess you get what you pay for.. thin and weak, and the little flavor that was there was awful. Tastes as if it were brewed with dog. Avoid this beer.

Rated based on notes taken 26 Oct 2012 -- Bought a 6 pack of tall boys. Haha this beer is good because of it’s nostalgia and representation. Not because it tastes good.

Uncommonly smooth is the most accurate statement of any beer company. Red dog is a light, refreshingly crisp beer that is more underrated than Kareem Abdul Jabar (the NBA leading scorer, defensive force, yet never mentioned in the greatest of all time debates). Red dog is one of the few beers to quinch my thirst on a hot summer day. I love it!!!

Yeah, this is about as bad as it gets. Would rather have bud. Maybe slightly better than PBR and old Milwaukee. Haven’t had it in YEARS, and probably never will again. The typical piss lager. Do educated consumers still really buy this stuff?

MacBoost (1963) - Victor, New York, USA - DEC 5, 2014
12oz can. Taste is very dirty, like someone spiked bud light with a fistful of dirt. Ample carbonation. Cheap swill. What else can I say. Yellow, corn, fizzy. Low boost.
