Attended the Grand Opening of Red Eye Brewing Company near downtown Wausau, Wisconsin. Received an early release of this beer, straight from the finished tank. Pours a hazy caramel amber brew with a creamy beige head that has some nice retention and sticky lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, some papaya, passion fruit, candi sugar, a touch of apple cider and some flowery hops. Taste is smooth, a little thick, with flavors of sweet caramel malt, candi sugar, flowery hops and a touch of tropical fruit. Red Eye has yet to dissapoint me. A fantastic dubbel from these guys. Dark brown with a medium sized off white head. Aroma is sweet with very subtle roasted malt and earthy tones. Some fig is forward on the palate. Very pleasent and a nice touch. Taste isn’t too rich, but filling and flavourful all around. On tap at the Red Eye brewpub. A brewpub with a year round dubbel – nice! Clear copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma of dark fruit, yeast, raisons, sweet malt and figs. Taste is very fruity and yeasty with plenty of sweet malt, candi sugar, tiffee, raisons and figs. 4oz sampler. Pours dark hazy reddish brown with off white head, very carbonated and fizzy. Aroma is alcohol, nuts, caramel, and some bread. Taste up front is some caramel, biscuit, touch of bready earth, some yeast character, and some roast at the end with a touch of alcohol. Pretty good stuff.

Draft at brewpub. Pours a nice darker caramel color. Small to medium off-white head, fairly lasting with lace. Aroma was sweet, fruity, estery, caramel, toffee. Flavor was yeast, dark fruit (fig), caramel, toffee. Some low alcohol presence. Medium+ body. Smooth and a little spicy. Sweet but not sugary. Well put-together.

Beautiful cloudy body red. Strong aroma of spices and fruits. Similarly flavored body, with light spices.

Nice dubbel in the middle of Wisconsin, great spot, great beer!!! Sweet spicy nose. Mouthfeel is perfect. Sweet but not cloying. We'll done!

Draft at The Old Fashioned, Madison. Filtered amber-brown color. Nice thin, lasting head. Mild figgy sweet malt aroma. Sweet malt thickness. No real hop character. On tap at Old Fashioned in Madison, pouts a clear red/copper with a thin head, aroma is of caramel, figs and booze, the flavor is sweet with some different touches of caramel mixed in with some dark fruit, pretty smooth finish.
