Draft at brewpub. Pours a walnut black. Medium tan head, fairly lasting with some lace. Aroma was lightly sweet, light roasty, some chocolate. Flavor follows. Medium body. Creamy. Carbonated enough. Delicate sweet roastiness. Clean, easy. Simple, maybe too much so, a bit too light handed. Easy drinking. Ughsmash (7502) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 10, 2011
On tap at Redeye. Poured deep brown with about ¾” of medium beige head.. garnet highlights. The aroma was soft with molasses and maple leading.. just a touch of dry earthy hops and roast accenting.. soft, simple, and well-balanced. The flavor was on the sweet side, with milky notes, chocolate, and molasses leading.. a little malt sourness and coffee roast around.. finished with dry roast over milky sweetness.. again well-balanced. Light-medium bodied and sweet and mentioned on the palate.. lower carbonation.. OK feel and flow. Very drinkable. hombrepalo (1972) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2010
4oz taste at brewpub. Opaque black with a little ring of bubbles. Light nose of caramel, coffee, sweet cocoa. Flavor is metallic berry, cocoa, coffee and dusty grain. Medium body is watery, smooth with little carbonation, and slightly to the sweet side. Not bad.

Draft at Red Eye Brewery. Dark brown almost black pour. Lightly sweet with flavors of coffee, chocolate, cream and toasted caramel malts. Creamy smooth mouthfeel with a crisp bitter finish. Enjoyable stout. scoobysnak (333) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 14, 2010
A very respectable stout for a small Wisconsin brewery. The initial taste is nothing special, fairly straight forward and nondescript. But I really enjoy the aftertaste, creamy and mellow, a good one definitely.

11th October 2008. GABF. My second favourite beer name of the fest after ’Knob Smoker’! Clear dark brown beer. Very dry toffee malt with a little hop back kick. The palate is too dry by far. At least it didn’t taste like it was made with verrucas :) nuplastikk (6514) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 2, 2009
Draft at OF. Opaque black with a solid foamy off-white head. Pretty solid for the style, certainly. Some lactic touches, sweet and creamy mouthfeel. Dry bitter coffee aftertaste which really holds the beer together and makes it better than average. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - AUG 24, 2009

Roast aroma. White head. Black and rich on the palate with some alcohol present. Crisp and dry coffee roast finish. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - AUG 5, 2009
[Tap] Sample notes from a brewpub visit in January 2009. Pours a very dark black color with very little head. Aroma is heavily roasted and burnt. The taste is a little more interesting. Bitter chocolate, coffee, vanilla, almond and smoky notes are all in there. Mouthfeel is smooth. Carbonation is about average. A pretty solid offering from Red Eye. Tap at the brewery. Very dark pour with a little red peeking through. Sweet, roasty aroma. Slight coffee flavor, very smooth and pretty damn good.
