On tap, color and aroma are hard to articulate due to the conditions of the bar I’m in. Taste has some expected pumpkin spice flavors, but also some earthy tones of dark roastedalt and mt hood hop pellets. Lightly bitter at the end, this seems darker and thicker than the average pumpkin ale. Unique, pretty good. Skyview (6115) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - OCT 25, 2009
Sampled via growler during Darkness Day 09 in Brooklyn Center, Wisconsin. Pours a near opaque dark brown colored brew with a decent sized beige head that really sticks to the glass. Aroma of chocolate, roasted dark malt, nutmeg and a hint of pumpkin. Taste is full bodied, soft carbonation, ABV has to be around 7%, with flavors of toasted dark malt, chocolate, nutmeg a hint of clove, and pumpkin pie filling. Finish is semi-sweet with some maple/brown sugar, chocolate and pumpkin aftertaste. A very nice twist on the pumpkin-style beers and should go well with the Halloween holiday. Special thanks goes to the Darkness Day attendee that saved me 350 miles of driving to Wausau and back to try this new Eichelberger creation.
