Bloody dark, loose tan head. Vaguely liquoricey aroma, some dark apple hints. Tastes a bit of rubber bands, not sure what to make of this.Tanniny finnish. Feels like its getting a little tired.

Cask at The Ale House, Colchester. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt with a little smoke. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a watery liqourice bitter spicy pepper hop palate with a short bitter finish. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. Nice enough but the bitterness doesnt suit me. Perhaps they should revisit the hop combination.

Cask at The White Hart, Margaretting Tye. Opaque, dark brown porter, with little white head. Fairly malty, slightly choccy, slight spice, but a bit of astringent bitterness. OK, but bit too light/watery.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2015 Cask at the London Drinker. Pours rich, red-brown with a small, foamy head. Not much in the nose aside from burnt leaves. Flavor is lightly sweet with some earthy bitterness, burnt leaves, faint roast. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dries out in the finish with some faint roast, more burnt leaves, dark malts, some burnt toast. Just not much going for this one. (March 2012, score 2.7)

Draft at GBBF 2014 - London. Pours clear brown with a creamy head. Nice coffee and cocoa character, some toasted bread. Light to medium bodied with fien carbonation. Nicely balanced finish with further coffee, chocolate. Good stuff. (August 2014, score: 3.7)
