Cloudy amber colour, thin collar of foam. Light aroma of malt, dough, yeast. Pretty strong body, malty, a hint of liquorice and a good amount of hop.
Strong ale with a better than average taste. Some fruits, some malts apparent. JorisPPattyn (9982) - Ursel, BELGIUM - JUL 3, 2006
Very dark chestnut beer; small, brownish tinted head. Dark malts, chocolate malt, chestnuts or other nuts, quite sweet nose. Sweet chocolate flavour, even "praliné"; liquorice, some roasted malts. Medium to well bodied. Burnt/roasted flavours come up in the aftertaste. Sweet, even when not bad. One does never know where a "Sterkens" beer is brewed, but in this instance, Huyghe is more than plausible. ogivlado (7810) - Zagreb, CROATIA - OCT 26, 2006
Bottled(330ml). -Dark amber coloured, small beige airy head. Sweet malty and caramel aroma with fruity and mild chocolate notes. Nice spicy and fruity finish, but something is missing. KnutAlbert (6754) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 29, 2006
Somemalty taste here, but the smell and finish are medical. Totthpaste, perhaps. Maybe it was my bottle that was off!
