Red Hare Rabbit's Reserve #1: Chocolate Porter

RATINGS: 15   MEAN: 3.55/5.0   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.42/5   IBU: 15   EST. CALORIES: 240   ABV: 8%
Aromas of roasted malts and chocolate. Has a delicate chocolate beginning then finishes dry. A combination of malts including chocolate, Midnight Wheat and crystal blend splendidly with dark cocoa for a perfect balance of sweet and bitter making this a very palatable chocolate porter for even the novice drinker.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2017 On tap in Atlanta. Smooth, medium body with medium carbonation. Near black body with a bubbly beige head that has poor retention. Moderate strength but an exceptionally clear chocolate aspect in the finish. Slight sour note. Medium body and carbonation. Overall: chocolaty.

Thin bodied porter. Dark brown. The chocolate was there, decently sweet. Overall, it was too thin to be great, but still not bad and drinkable.

12/17/15. Growler of the re-release from Craft on Draft. Black pour with a nice tan head. Mild chocolate aroma, a touch watery, some caramel and pale malts. Mild flavor, mild chocolate, alcohol hidden well, caramel and pale malts. Not bad.

This beer was very disappointing, it was at most average the smell of chocolate and malts were well mixed. However it poured and the the khaki colored head dissipated almost instantly, then the body was too thin and the tastes were not very clean.

Draught @ the Crystal Beer Room in Savannah. This was a really nice big roasty beer...better in a to go cup.

This draft brew from a restaurant poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The complex aroma was roasted malt dark malt and woody. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The creamy flavor contained notes of mildly vinous wood brown malt and dark malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

Tasted from a growler poured less than an hour earlier from The Beer Growled labeled as Red Hare Chocolate Porter. Really nice beer. Big chocolate, very smooth. Very satisfying.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a coffee brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces slightly. Aroma has light dark grains up front with a bit of earthiness and a good amount of dark chocolate. Flavor has a nice dark chocolate note that combines with a bit of roasted malts.
