Jet Black and one to be savoured. The mouth feel is silky smooth, the nose has roasted malt and a touch of caramel. A rich deep mocha and coffee flavour, is accentuated with caramel and smoky flavours. Willamette and Goldings hops were used in 3 additions to create an ale with a big bitterness and an assertive hop character. This beer is served using a sparkler top to allow a lightly carbonated ale, yet with a lasting and beautiful white head.

This fine ale is only available from the brewery, on tap and served with the patience it deserves.

Enjoyed this beer several times, in bottle, on tap and draught through an English handpump from a cask conditioned barrel...every time it has been very consistant and wonderfully delicious. Pours a thick jet black with a full creamy tan head. Lush aroma of chocolate, coffee and some light floral hops. Big beautiful taste of a classic Russian Imperial Stout with dark chocolate, coffee, caramel and a hints of spice and smoke. Solid body and spot on carbonation. Very well balanced beer, the big alcohol is warming but doesnt take the slightest touch away from this beer. The finish is long with a soft hop bitterness that is lovely. An excellent excellent beer. Probably Australias best craft Imperial Stout (to style).

Pours dark brown, mocha head. Nose is coffee, molasses, vanilla, plum, raisins. Flavor is more of the same, sweet toffee, lots of raisin and fig, coffee on the finish. Very complex and layered flavor, really delightful. You get a nice transition between the sweetness of the mid palate and the coffee notes on the end. Gorgeous, really really gorgeous.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2016 6/8/2016 - draught at Red Hill Brewery - same as comments for bottled version. 11/6/2016 - bottle- Poured an opaque black with a one-finger light tan dense foam head that retained for ages but laced poorly. Carbonation low to moderate. Aroma subtly of chocolate, roasted coffee and syrup/treacle. Taste of sweet brown sugars, roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruits and vanilla with alcohol on the back palate; low bitterness. Medium body but a little thin for the style. Smooth and creamy with a lingering subtly sweet vanilla finish that also has alcohol notes. Nice enough.

Aroma - strong and simple Taste - 10/10 Full bodied, with slight coffee taste. Beautiful malts. Very creamy (maybe slightly too much) Simple stout flavours, its not trying to be anything else apart from a stout which is refreshing these days. Surprisingly hoppy bitterness to end on. After taste - Beautiful lingering taste, with that full body malty taste hanging on for a long while. Tip: Sensational with a bit of good quality dark chocolate!

Ive never seen a beer so flat, zero head, just pours like a cold black coffee, strong bitter cocoa flavour, very syrupy mouthfeel.

The head is a bit thin but the mouthfeel is soft and creamy. The taste is simple but nice - sweet milk chocolate. Like a milk stout. Very enjoyable if that is what you want from your beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Inky black with small tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, dark fruits, oak, roasted meat. The taste has oak, port, dark chocolate, molasses, some alcohol. Too thin in body, however. Not bad but needs more viscosity and more complexity to balance out the dominating sweetness.
