On tap at Josie Bones. Rich and malty. Aromas of caramel and nuts, with notes of anisette. Taste is sweet, with long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy head. Davros (3181) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 5, 2012
Pours very dark brown with ruby hints.
Rich malty aroma, with toasty notes, melanoidin malt, bready malt and caramel. A little restrained though.
Similarly rich flavours, with more bready and toasty malt alongside some caramel. Also present is a spicy hop note.
Carbonation seems a little high. Pyobon (1401) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JUL 21, 2012
(bottle) Pours clear dark mahogany with no head. Impressive complex aroma with raisins, molasses, spice, rum and some floral notes. Excellent palate: medium bodied with fine creamy carbonation. Flavour has a sweetish start with raisins and molasses transforming in burnt toffee / dark roast malt bitterness. Overall this is an unusual and rich beer but the finish was a bit to harsh for me. goatwhisperer (19) - - JUL 1, 2012
Bottle from Purvis served in a Tulip glass.
Smokey mist escapes the bottle as soon as it’s opened. Small amount of head with a medium agressive pour. Very very dark red, almost opaque and a nice amber when held up to light.
A bit of cherry and malt on the nose. Sweet at first, bitter in the middle, and smooth at the end with fleeting caramel notes. Watery mouthfeel and leaves your tongue feeling dry.

Bottle, 14C. Clear dark copper with a modest beige head that lasts all the way. Gentle aroma of toffee, plums, apples, pears, spices, a little chocolate. Rich toffee and fruit, but only a little sweet. Firm spicy bitterness. Tried this at GABS and it didn’t make much of an impression, but enjoyed this a lot.
